"Those who fear the LORD are secure; he will  be a refuge for their children." Proverbs 14:26

Who isn't looking for security? What believing parent doesn't yearn for God to be a refuge for their children?

Last week, I broached the question here on this blog: DO I really walk in the blessings that come from fearing the LORD. I find I don't do this well enough.

Thankfully, over the years I've embraced this very basic command that is clearly stated in the bible more often than not. Fear the LORD.

Understand this fearing the LORD is not the trembling, shaking, frightened kind of fear. Fearing the LORD in the framework of the command in the bible is the recognition of who God is and praising and honoring Him in our lives. We show reverence and give honor and glory to the LORD.

As a young woman left in the hard situation of single parenting, I found that being secure in God brought me step by step closer to a calmer environment. Raising kids in this world is never easy. Raising them without both parents is a handicap.

Reading and hiding God's word in my heart, allowed me to to benefit from many verses that settled in my spirit and lead me to raise my children in a Christian home. This ONE consistent act of reading the word, secured me and my children.

I am now a grandmother and find this verse just as powerful today as I did in 1987. This security that my children have in knowing God allows me to embrace my grandchildren in confidence that they will be secured in God. Considering our world today, that is a huge blessing.

As a mother I am pretty much finished  with the raising of my children. My children each have their own families. They are growing their own homes and creating their own traditions.

I am a mother and a grandmother. I have always been concerned about the legacy I leave to my children and my children's children. When I read Proverbs 14:26 it delights me.

What more could I desire more than God being a refuge for my children.

If you feel the same. write the verse down. Hide it in your heart. Give this treasure repeatedly to your children.

I hope you have one more valid reason to fear the LORD!

Blessings
See you next week. Here, as usual.
