Hospitality Vol. 1 Chap. 18

3/27/2017

Hospitality means we take people into the space that is our lives and our minds and our hearts and our work and our efforts. Hospitality is the way we come out of ourselves. It is the step toward dismantling the barriers of the world. Hospitality is the way we turn a prejudiced world around, one heart at a time.

El Elyon - Most High God - Do I thank Him immediately? Do I thank Him enough?                  Vol. 1 Chap. 17

3/20/2017

El Elyon.
El Elyon the Most High God.
  • He is the Source of everything in heaven and on earth.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalms 91:1

What hope that brings to me. I believe it is the hope that is promised to all of us that desire to have a 'with God' life.

Beginning of everything and end of everything.

But do I forget to thank Him?

Sometimes, I must be reminded of this great truth, God is above all and all things are in subjugation to Him.

In knowing that El Elyon is over all my concerns is  great hope and  deep comfort.

My greatest concern right now is so minuscule to all that He has shown Himself to be in my past.  He is the giver of life and the taker of life. He alone holds this great planet in orbit. He alone created and supersedes over this world. He provides, protects, and promotes.

Yes, Satan has been given domination for a time. But Satan cannot and will not overcome El Elyon. Even during his domination time here on earth. The Most High God - El Elyon is truly the power over all created and to be created.
  • Are you in a place of disturbance?
  • Is your world about to break in two?
  • Have you seen the writing on the wall for a relationship, a job, an illness?

El Elyon is the one and the only one available to His children for comfort in these times.

I cannot control anything. I neither control my own desires, nor my own days.

By giving El Elyon His rightful place in my life and relinquishing my all to Him, I can trust that these situations and these days will be covered by His wisdom and His care.

He is mighty to save. He has taken many dark situations and returned them to me cleaned up and sparkling with new hope and new life.

He has gone before me.

He goes before me now.

Just yesterday He handled a large concern in my life. Something that had me all wrapped up in fear and tripping over myself in anxiety. Releasing it to Him to handle and to give Him control over the situation did not mean I didn't have to prepare to confront it. I did. But, I went into the situation much more calm knowing that He was with me.
I had released the end result to Him.

But, God being so gracious removed me from the conflict completely. He went before me and handled my concern. He gave me the answer I needed for comfort and removed me from the entire situation.

  • Thanking him is my next step. Do I do it often enough? I know I learned this on the mission field. I love this aspect of my walk with El Elyon.

Today I am waltzing in gratitude.  Yesterday in removing me from the situation I had been overly concerned for weeks about. I came home and slept for 5 hours. I also tumbled into bed at 8:45pm and slept the entire night. In complete peace and in complete comfort I was released from any concern.

And through the night I continued to say aloud: "Thank You, Jesus." I prayed my nightly prayer laying such gratitude at His feet. I woke several times, with these words on my lips immediately. "Thank You, Jesus."
  • I continue thanking Him today. And give glory to His power through this post.

Even though our website has been down, and we have experienced difficulty with it in the last 72 hours. This morning it is up and I am able to post here as I have promised - a post on Mondays.

And I sing praises to El Elyon.

The God Most High saved me from a tough situation yesterday. He covers my endeavors today. And He alone receives the glory for this website. He IS what this website is about.

May His Words continue to go out from this site and may I always be at the ready with a grateful heart and a mindful: THANK YOU!

Please testify to His presence as El Elyon in your life in the comments on this blogpost.

Because He IS the Great I AM, i am

What do I seek Him for? Vol. 1 Chap 16

3/13/2017

John 6: 22-29
This passage is right after the disciples and Jesus had feed the five thousand with five barley loaves and two fish. It is right after Jesus' disciples left without Him in a boat and He decided to take the quicker trip by walking on the water!

John 6:22-25 NIV
22.
The next day the crowd that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples, but that they had gone away alone.
23. Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
24. Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boat and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus.
25. When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, "Rabbi. when did you get here?"

I have these words scribbled into the margin of my bible:
  • What would they want? What would you want? What would I want?
  • They had just experienced the food overflowing - do you think they were hungry?
  • and what is Jesus' reply?

John 6: 26-29 NIV
26. Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.
27. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.

28 Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29. Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

It is all about Him folks.

Whatever we want to focus on:
Food
Security
Relationship ...
the list goes on!

Think about the Food: i.e. I AM the BREAD!
He isn't the bread that is given for us to eat. He IS the bread. I thought it interesting when a teacher I was listening to tonight said, "think about the manna in the wilderness" Is the manna in the Old Testament a symbol of Christ to come?

small = humility
white = purity
round = eternity
new every morning = intimate daily relationship

Interesting.

This I know. Jesus does not give us something to eat - HE IS what we eat. He's not a fast food restaurant. Chewing on His Words is what meditation is all about! He wants us to sit down at His banquet...

He doesn't give us a door for security - He IS the door. He is the way - He doesn't want to tell us how to get someplace - He wants to take us there! Resting in Him.

He doesn't want to give us a vine to build into, He wants to be the vine we are in. The living breathing Jesus, so intimate He will meet us for coffee.

One other thing:
His manna was showered down new every morning...
don't let it go bad
fill up on Him daily!

He's not something to stick in your pocket and save for tomorrow, or the next day, or the next. I know that when I 'talk' about Him, He waits patiently on top of 'the train' I meet Him on.

He meets me there and I am saddened at the moments that I forged forward without Him.

May we feast on the bread (Him) in the mornings.
May we find the door (Him) securely protecting us from harm during the day.
May we flourish in the vine (Him) as we grow through our lives.

If I seek physical well-being I will die.
If I seek HIM I will eat.

If I seek protection from this world, I will be bowled over by the evil that is in it.
If I secure myself in Him as my door of protection, nothing can harm me at my core.

If I seek future and all that holds, I will find myself coming and going and become sick to death of myself.
If I seek Him I will LIVE life worth living.

Because He is the I AM, i am

He IS the Bread, He IS the Door, He IS the Vine - HE IS THE I AM.

The Lord sets standards. Do I love Him enough to strive to reach them?  Vol 1 Chap 15

3/6/2017

“The Lord does not give me rules, He makes His standard very clear, and if my relationship to Him is that of love, I will do what He says without any hesitation. If I hesitate, it is because I love someone else in competition with Him, myself. Jesus Christ will not help me to obey Him, I must obey Him; and when I do obey Him, I fulfill my spiritual destiny.” Oswald Chambers

The word muss - must in German is a power word.  It means something that rises up within us. It is a word that defines character.

Alone I stand before God. No one else, just me, standing there, holding my choices.

It does not matter at that point what anyone else has decided to do.

It does not matter what anyone else has chosen.

It does not matter what anyone else has told me to do and then done differently themselves.

It only matters – did I obey?
Did I trust Him and obey Him?

And Jesus says, "Come."
He repeatedly says, "Come."
When will his heart be free from aching from those who deny Him even after they know Him?
When I love Him I must follow Him.

Because He IS the I AM, i am
