22. Then the LORD said to Moses, 23. "Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: 24. 'May the LORD bless you and protect you. 25. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. 26. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.' 27. When Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them" Numbers 6:22-27 NLT Thankful for blessings. Because He is the I AM,

How can we find peace and quietness within our walls and our towers? There are abominable immoralities being legalized. Abortion is viewed as legal. There is no peace for the innocent. There is no safety for the vulnerable within our towers. How can there be quietness? There is shock, fear, anguish, screaming. Abortion. It hurts. I cannot apologize for this view. I have lived in and through it. I have a personal story. I throw no stones. I am in more pain than most. And rejoice in miracles and in God's grace. I ache for not only the aborted, but also for the hands of the mothers that have ended their children's lives. I have a story to tell. It is a miracle story. I have a testimony to God's miraculous power. I have a story to tell of my humanity. I have a story to tell of love, redemption, power and grace. ![]() Because He is the I AM,

Things are happening here from roof problems, to trees falling on our fence, to car needing to be replaced to...to...to. And this is what I know. God gives. He gives and He takes away. My husband and I are simply stewards of the possessions He has given. Possessions are to be taken care of well. They don't belong to us, they belong to God. He has blessed us with them. By putting my possessions in proper perspective I am freeing myself. I am free from:
Look at the following story from Matthew 19. 16. Someone came to Jesus with this question: "Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?" 17. "Why ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. But to answer your question — if you want to receive eternal life, keep the commandments." 18. "Which ones?" the man asked. And Jesus replied: "'You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. 19. Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.'" 20. "I've obeyed all these commandments," the young man replied. "What else must I do?" 21. Jesus told him, "If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." 22. But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he had many possessions. Matthew 19:16-22 NLT So, this young man had many possessions. This young man was tied to his possessions so tightly he was willing to reject Jesus to hold on to them. I've often wondered if this young man had released his grip on his stuff and said, “Okay, LORD.” What would have happened. Jesus might have said, "Peace be with you. Those possessions might be come in handy for you to use in ministry for the future. Keep them. Be a good steward of them.” Our LORD does not warn us that stuff is evil. He says the love of stuff is a problem. Not having, but refusing to release. Not owning but refusing to use wisely. Some of my closest friends are blessed with wealth. They are generous with their homes, with their property, and even with their money. And God continues to bless them. These people are not holding onto their possessions. Instead, they have been wise with their money. They are thankful for money/possessions/stuff, good stewards of all. They recognize all comes from the hand of God. By keeping their hands open and not holding tightly to things of this world, they bless others. Remember this verse? 1 Timothy 6:10 NASB says: "For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." The LOVE of these things is the problem. Our heart is always what Jesus looks at. Right now many books and TV series deal with hoarding, and releasing stuff. It’s a popular theme. And one for a reason. There is a fundamental truth that stuff will overwhelm us. By releasing unnecessary stuff and removing it from our homes and surroundings we will find a lighter heart and easier life. This is a fundamental human reality. But the spiritual aspects are there as well. Jesus wants us to be willing to release all our stuff and find our fulfillment and abundance in Him. He is wonderfully gracious and generous. He promises He will never leave us nor forsake us. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. If and when He makes a request for us to leave any or all of the things that we own, and we do it, He will bless us. God called me to get rid of my possessions in 2004. For ten years I was a missionary on the foriegn mission field. To move there i had to sell a two-story house, car, furniture. I even said goodbye to my adult children - whom I absolutely adore. But — God had called and I followed. I thought I would be there until I died. Instead, after ten years, He brought me home to the USA. He brought a man into my life, and allowed me to marry. My husband loves me as Christ loves the church. Today we have some stuff. We are trying to be good stewards of our stuff. But none of our stuff is as important to either of us as sharing Jesus Christ's love to the world. None of our stuff is as important as sharing our lives with others in Jesus' strength and wisdom. We are thankful for what we have, but we want to be wise not to allow it to own us. We are constantly finding ways to improve our home. Streamlining our home from stuff is a constant job. I am thankful that my years as a single mom and missionary have grounded me in keeping my hands open instead of wrapped tightly around the things of this world. It hasn't been easy. It is not something that is supposed to be easy. It has been worth the effort. Because when I let these things go and hold Him more tightly, Jesus shines. And this is what Jesus promised : "29. And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life. 30. But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then." With Jesus, resolutions aren't new every New Year, they are new every morning. — Vol 3, Ch 21/14/2019 Mark 1:1-13 He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him. It is January 14. Two weeks into the New Year and many are already feeling as if they have failed in their resolutions, goals, plans for the year. We enter the New Year with fresh eyes and with fresh dreams. And yet when the second week, or the fourth, or eighth come rolling around, our eyes are dim and dreams are dashed. We've slept through the workout. Or, we've grabbed that Reese's Peanut Butter Christmas Tree because the season is over and better to eat it than to throw it away. And in the back of our heads we question why we tried again this year. Or, we might be those that have pitched the resolutions aside for a Word for the Year. I myself, have been in that camp up until three years ago. And I am still there. I pretty much have embraced a WORD and a VERSE for the year. And three years ago began setting goals again. My WORD this year was given as a phrase: Occupy the Land that He has Given. My VERSE 1 Chronicles 4:9,10 And the goals encompass: a balanced life. But, I will fail. I will. I am human, And knowing that Jesus moved as a human out into the desert and Satan tempted Him. Knowing that He went through forty days and forty nights fasting with Satan offering him food. He was offered the world, and, and... How did He defeat Satan? By the Gospel and acknowledging His identity. And we too have that available to us. We don't defeat Satan by what we are determined to do. We enter into what Jesus has already done. He has made us His own and what He has accomplished we are able to enter into. When we hold onto the Gospel of Christ we can fling Satan's temptations right back into Satan's face. And Christ promises that His mercies are new every morning. Do you realize that every morning that you wake and reach out your hand. You can say, "Thank You Jesus." He's giving you the opportunity to begin afresh every moment. What would life be like if instead of defeat, you took a step, stretched your hand out, and received His strength? Step-by-step thanking Him for that forty day Victory desert campout. Even Jesus had the angels to come in and wait on Him as He recovered from those temptations. Don't let one day beat you up, knock you down, and spit you out. Instead, be aware you are human. With Jesus, let Him hold you. Every day is fresh. Share a moment when you felt that Jesus came in and lifted you up when you thought you were done. And there He was picking you up and bringing you into an awareness of His mercies and His victory! We all are uplifted by each others praise stories! Wonderful question, right? Jesus asked them, "What do you want?" But, REALLY? Now mind you, this is not the verse referring to the times that Jesus asked an ill person, "What do you want me to do for you?" Matthew 20:32, Mark 10:51, Luke 18:41 That is a different question. "What do you want?" vs. "What do you want me to do for you?" And I encourage you to investigate the second question in your time with Him. It is a wonderful place of intimacy when we can actually get alone long enough to ask this thoughtful and soul seeking question. What do I want Jesus to do for me? Argh! I digress: Another blog post for another time. Back to the question of the hour: Jesus asked them,"What do you want?" The first time this verse came to my recognition was in a devotional. It was a good devotional and it made me question what I would tell Jesus if He asked me that question. "What do I want?" The question used in this particular devotional came from the New International Version. Not a bad version of the bible and one that many find helpful in today's world. I use it often to better equip me to share His word. The New International Version is considered to be a translation that tries to put the bible in a more understandable language. That is the point of a translation, right! However, the NIV, the NLT, the Berean Study Bible, and the Contemporary English Bible all use the same wording. (and those are only 4 of the hundreds of translations out there. I didn't check all translations, just a lot of them - 28 to be exact.) And it isn't wrong, and it makes us understand what Jesus was saying. But is it complete? Unfortunately, with this particular verse and because often people pull verses out of context, in my opinion, it falls a tiny bit short. Bear with me here.
... And the next day he [John the Baptizer] saw Jesus coming to him [John the Baptizer] and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. This is He on behalf of whom I [John the Baptizer] said, 'After me comes a man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.' ...
So, get the picture? John the Baptizer had been collecting a following for a long time. His life and his words were transforming people from those that were walking around without relationship with God, to people who were once again beginning to look for the Messiah and get excited about His coming. And here John the Baptizer is with two of his loyal disciples and he points out Jesus and says: "Behold the Lamb of God!" Would you go to find out who John the Baptizer is talking about? I would. And Andrew did the same. He went and Jesus asked this question: "What do you want?"(NLT) Or in other translations which I find much more in the line of this context: "What are you looking for?" "What do you seek? Now do you see my problem with the translation of this sentence - standing alone - not in context? Yes, when kept in context the question lets us all know that Jesus wasn't asking John the Baptizer's two disciples, "What do you want? i,e, a new bicycle, a fixed marriage, a better job, a happier life, a husband/wife, me or my kid free of sickness or addiction. " No, in context Jesus clearly is asking these two disciples, "What do you want? Why are you here? What are you looking for? What do you seek?" See the difference? Pretty big one, right? See why context is so important? Pretty big, right?
Jesus asked these men: "What are you looking for?" or "What are you seeking?" not "What do you want?" Oh my friend. They were seeking the Messiah. They were seeking for a Redeemer, a Savior, a King. And they found HIM. What are you seeking? A deeper relationship with the Great God who IS? Search His words. Read the Bible. Begin to enter into ALL of the bible. I always begin this season asking God for a Word for the Year and a Verse for the Year. Last year my word was three-fold: Root/Relax/Safe Considering the past year, I am thankful for these words for in February of 2018 my mother's life began to suffer. We buried her in September. I found myself being held by God in so many ways. The Reading Reflection and Bible Community [RR&BC] was a great place of support and encouragement over the year. Thank you to all who were with me through those days. As you can see from the blog number above, I failed to write five Learning How To Fear Well blog posts this past year. Instead of 52 blogs, I wrote 47. So, I did miss a few steps there. But not one step was lost in our daily reading of the Word membership community. Everyday was a day filled with His words and thoughtful questions to ponder. Members found us here and were able to read along with us and ponder along with us every single day! Step-by-step. And as has been proven over centuries, the step-by-step walking with God is what pulls us through more than all else. As I review my year I look at things I did well, places I messed up, and where I can ask God to come in and change me in 2019. What I have learned over the last sixty-two years.
And here on our website we are doing just that. Here are two testimonies from our members that have been walking on this road with us: "RR&BC has gotten me back in the habit of reading the Word every day. It has also introduced me to many reading/studying strategies that I had not used before" Member CC "Oh, Robyn, please continue. Praise be to God!" Member BJ Because of this and others, I see that He is forging us forward to continue here. And I desire to be open and honest with you all who come to share in our journey. Biff and I live on a modest income. The RR&BC, LLC and site costs money. We ask for a monthly subscription to cover those costs. The company of RR&BC,LLC donates 10%+ to non-profit organizations. I live with a frugally wise man. And yet every month or so I ask him if he is still supportive of us being in this business of sharing the word with you and building a bible reading community. Every time I ask he says yes! This is how we are sharing Him. What a kind and loving man I married! This year we are questioning how do we bring more members to our community not for the financial aspect, but for the community aspect. So this year we are inviting all of our members that have come (for a month, six months or a year) to this point be considered life-time members. We want to celebrate you and show you our appreciation. We want you here. When thinking about how to do this with other new members. God led me to the scripture about the farmer who hired workers. Do you remember that scripture? Matthew 20:1-16. We will continue charging $9.97 a month with savings if you join for longer as is on our store page... . We believe with all of our hearts the hours spent in preparation and the benefit for all of us is more than that value. If you desire to join us here, we would love to have you. But I'm not. It takes courage to be authentic. It takes courage to be real. Where do I find that courage? that authenticity? In evaluating this last year I have come up short on several goals. It is frustrating to me. 2017 was a much more productive year than 2018 year has been. Yes, I have accomplished many goals this year, but the entirety of the year is overwhelmed with sadness.
So where is the good news in this? Where is the opportunity in this? Well, with all of that hanging in the past, I am looking forward to the future 2019. Where is the good stuff? the miracle? I'm not done, or finished, or checking out, or ditching the goals I set for 2018. Instead, I am filled with anticipation. I have been blessed by being lifted by His Words daily throughout this year. Sometimes carried, sometimes held, sometimes walking beside my LORD. I want to be sure you understand. These sad events have not de-emphasized the JOY I find here on our RR&BC website. I find it a pleasure to pull up my daily readings and read and meditate. In fact, if I didn't have the community here I question if I would have been in the word as regularly as I have been. I don't know how I would have gotten through the last year. I don't know how people do tough life without meditating in the word. That said. Where are you in this end of the year evaluation stage? Are you questioning what you will continue and what you will let go? Are you remembering that God's word is important to read regularly. It is a really hard time in our lives, country, world. We need stability. We need a grounding before we face the world daily. I can attest. After a year that has been hard and sad and difficult I would not be able to be as joy filled as I am without His word. This is not the frivolous happy mode. This is the deep overwhelming understanding that no matter how I feel on the outside, I am confident on the inside that God has me in His wonderful loving hands and all that I am experiencing is simply forging me into a sanctified life. Sanctification isn't easy. But it is important. If you desire to be able to forge forward no matter what the day brings. Come join us. We would love to have you. And remember, you don't have to be perfect. Jesus came to be that for us. It is helpful to be authentic though. And that takes courage. Courage that can come from reading the Bible regularly. Thank You for meeting me, LORD. I welcome you into this place. Please prepare my heart Jehovah. Thank you for insight. 3. 5th strategy. A simple strategy: Building Blocks
12. When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. 13. Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break. 14. Still, everyone died — from the time of Adam to the time of Moses — even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come. 15. But there is a great difference between Adam's sin and God's gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ. 16. And the result of God's gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man's sin. For Adam's sin led to condemnation, but God's free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins. 17. For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. 18. Yes, Adam's one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and a new life for everyone. 19. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will made righteous. 20. God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful grace became more abundant. 21. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. We are opening our membership on January 1, 2019. Our subscription costs are changing. We desire to bring the Word in community daily to as many as would be willing to come. Keep your eyes and ears open and return to find out what's new in this new year of occupying the land God has given you. Robyn Rochelle Cox RR&BC, LLC ©2016 We, Biff and I, look forward to what God is doing in our lives and in yours. In just a few days the United States will observe our yearly Gratitude celebration. Thanksgiving is a pretty big deal in our country. This is the day people gather with family and remember all of the blessings that have happened over the year. We used to gather over Turkey and Dressing only. Some still hold to this tradition while others are introducing tofu and other meats and vegetables on the table. There are gluten-free-everything dishes bouncing around on Social Media. The topic of conversation among many is who is coming for dinner and what are they bringing to share. This time of Thanksgiving is looked at as one day of splurge. There is gravy to eat, pudding to indulge in. There are pies, and cakes, and desserts. It is a FEAST! And splurging is looked forward to. Yes, splurging is nice, but it doesn't build us into healthy people. Think about just the preparations alone - YIKES! It would not only be hard physically, but not healthy for us either. Instead, we must eat a correct amount of healthy food daily for growth, maintenance, and well-being. ![]() Our Soul Health is the same. God tells us how important it is to nourish our spirit on a daily basis. But how do we do that? First we start as babes: 1 Peter 2:1,2 NASB "Therefore putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation." Sunday Morning Church and Retreats, even small group gatherings are the beginnings of feeding our souls. They are the milk. The time where we eat the Bible's Words with others and celebrate our God. But they are not the daily healthy eating that we need to survive in this world and be healthy spiritually. We find these words in Hebrews. They might cut into us and feel like they are harsh, but these words are a bit of the good healthy diet we need to grow in the LORD. Hebrews 5:11-14 NLT A Call to Spiritual Growth 11. There is much more we would like to say about this, but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don't seem to listen. 12. You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God's word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. 13. For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn't know how to do what is right. 14. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong. Bible study comes in all shapes and sizes. But doing it is the real trial. It is also the real reward. You can delve into a word study, a topical study, a book study. But study means reading and contemplating and questioning and learning. And while we are doing that we are really eating the healthy food from the Word of God. Study of the Word of God fills us to the brim with good things. Here is one of the wonderful promises that God makes when we are obedient to Him! For it was I, the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things. Psalm 81:10 NLT This sounds wonderful. And when we read in context we find out how we can be fed these good things. But how can we know this if we don't get into the Word and really read it? In honor of our harvest seasons, let's get healthy eating from the very good Father's words. We need to be healthy. We need to eat daily. We need to savor the Word of God. It might take a little exercise in regular personal Bible study. But it is what we need. For our health. For our own well-being. For our soul strength. ![]() Come and Join Us in Reading the Word Daily Eating His Words for our Spiritual Health Because He IS the I AM, i am
