"How blessed is everyone that fears the Lord, who walks in His ways." Psalm 128: 1
Fear⏤Nobody wants to fear. And yet, Psalms says that there is a blessing in fearing the Lord.
Tell me more!
As I read this first verse two weeks ago, it hit me.
Do I really live in this blessing?
Do I embrace the fear of the LORD and when I do, do I take notice of all the blessings that flow from that? If you were to ask me if I do, I would say with confidence in the affirmative.
But in reality, I think it escapes me more than I care to admit.
These last few weeks I asked God to prompt my heart when I failed to observe the blessings He is laying out before me on a daily basis. I was surprised how often my heart was pricked.
These were only two of the many promptings that He brought me to.
Please join me in reading this small rich chapter with me, I share some thoughts that God brought to my mind to ponder.
Can you relate?
Blessedness of the Fear of the Lord
A Song of Ascents
1. How blessed (happy) is everyone (that means you and me) who fears the Lord,
(Who shows reverence and gives honor and glory to God)
Who walks in His ways. (Loving God with all our heart, mind, soul)
2. When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands,
You will be happy and it will be well with you.
(Living and working daily at the task that God has set before me,
I will be happy and it will be well with me)
3. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine,
Within your house,
Your children like olive plants
Around your table.
(All that fear Him will have signs of life ooze from their lives.)
4. Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears the LORD.
(This is part of the wonderful blessing that comes from fearing God.)
5. The LORD bless you from Zion,
And may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
6. Indeed, may you see your children's children.
Peace be upon Israel!
(We that are adopted into the family enjoy this blessing as well.)
(parenthesis pondering, mine)
