1396.

David Married Abigail

Today's Passage: 1 Samuel 25:39-44

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

2.
Invite God to join you in your reading. Ask Him for wisdom.
If there is anything in your spirit hindering you, confess it now.
He knows it. You are forgiven.
Ask Him to help you embrace that truth to live it out.

a prayer:
Thank You for meeting me, LORD.

I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you, Omnipotent God for insight.

6th strategy.

Cause and Effect or as I like to say:
Our Choices make a difference.

© RR&BC, LLC 2020
  • Begin by inviting God to show you what is the cause and effect hidden in these verses. Ask Him to show you nuggets of wisdom.
  • Read the passage completely. Don't worry about getting too technical or scholarly in this activity. The purpose is to draw your attention to a decision that was made what was done and what was the end result, because of that decision. We make choices everyday. Have we taken into consideration what the end result of our choices might be?
  • Divide a piece of paper into two columns.
  • Title the first column Cause/Decision and the second column Effect/End result
  • Reread the passage. This time ask if there are any instructions that are given that have a direct end result.
  • Write down the causes (in Cause column)and the effects (in the Effects column).
  • Do you find a pattern?
  • What are your thoughts?
  • Now as you wrap all these thoughts up in your mind. Stop and thank God for being with you this very day. Ask Him to give you guidance in your choices. May they be glorifying.

39. When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, "Praise the LORD who has avenged the insult I received from Nabal and has kept me from doing it myself. Nabal has received the punishment for his sin." Then David sent messengers to Abigail to ask her to become his wife.

40. When the messengers arrived at Carmel, they told Abigail, "David has sent us to take you back to marry him."

41. She bowed low to the ground and responded, "I, your servant, would be happy to marry David. I would even be willing to become a slave, washing the feet of his servants!"
42. Quickly getting ready, she took along five of her servant girls as attendants, mounted her donkey, and went with David's messengers. And so she became his wife.
43. David also married Ahinoam from Jezreel, making both of them his wives.
44. Saul, meanwhile, had given his daughter Michal, David's wife, to a man from Gallim named Palti son of Laish.
1 Samuel 25:39-44 NLT
