Robyn's Bible Reading Strategies Applied
174. Mutual Delight in Each Other 1. Today's Passage: Song of Songs 6:1-13 Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend. Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here. You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages. Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the New Living Testament (NLT). (An Aside: Christian tradition accepts this as a literal love story and also reads the poem as an allegory of Christ and His Bride [the Christian Church]) Young Women of Jerusalem 1. Where has your lover gone, O woman of rare beauty? Which way did he turn so we can help you find him? Young Woman 2. My lover has gone down to his garden, to his spice beds, to browse in the gardens and gather the lilies. 3. I am my lover's, and my lover is mine. He browses among the lilies. Young Man 4. You are beautiful, my darling, like the lovely city of Tirzah. Yes, as beautiful as Jerusalem, as majestic as an army with billowing banners. 5. Turn your eyes away, for they overpower me. Your hair falls in waves, like a flock of goats winding down the slopes of Gilead. 6. Your teeth are as white as sheep that are freshly washed. Your smile is flawless, each tooth matched with its twin. 7. Your cheeks are like rosy pomegranates behind your veil. 8. Even among sixty queens and eighty concubines and countless young women, 9. I would still choose my dove, my perfect one⏤ the favorite of her mother, dearly loved by the one who bore her. The young women see her and praise her; even queens and royal concubines sing her praises: 10: "Who is this, arising like the dawn, as fair as the moon, as bright as the sun, as majestic as an army with billowing banners?" 11. I went down to the grove of walnut trees and out to the valley to see the new spring growth, to see whether the grapevines had budded or the pomegranates were in bloom. 12. Before I realized it, I found myself in the royal chariot with my beloved. Young Women of Jerusalem 13. Return, return to us, O maid of Shulam. Come back, come back, that we may see you again. Young Man Why do you stare at this young woman of Shulam, as she moves so gracefully between two lines of dancers? Song of Songs 6:1-13 NLT 2. Every reading of the word is profitable. Sometimes the words, or the way they are written (i.e. prose, poetry, tragedy) make us uncomfortable. But it is all profitable to read. Brain research shows that just in reading something, we take note of it in our thoughts. Entering God's words into our brain help us connect to Him both physically and spiritually. Don't doubt that what you are doing is pleasing to the God Most High. Simply read today's passage and let the words soak into your heart. 3. Thank You Abba for this book of Love. Solomon must have loved her very much. And she must have loved him very much as well. You place this in your book for us to learn from, yes. But also to enjoy. May we ask You to help us find pleasure in the beauty of the words You have written. We love You Daddy. In your name, Jesus Son of God we pray. Amen. 4. Please leave your name and your last initial. It is a good day. We share in the investigations. And I will be here again tomorrow. I hope you will too. ~Robyn Blessing in the reading of God's Words. Robyn and Biff RR&BC, LLC ©2016 Problems?
