Warning of Coming Judgment

1.

Today's Passage: Amos 5:18-25

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

18. What sorrow awaits you who say, "If only the day of the LORD were here."
You have no idea what you are wishing for.
That day will bring darkness, not light.
19. In that day you will be like a man who runs from a lion⏤ only to meet a bear.
Escaping from the bear, he leans his hand against a wall in his house ⏤
and he's bitten by a snake.
20. Yes, the day of the LORD will be dark and hopeless, without a ray of joy or hope.

21. "I hate all your show and pretense ⏤
the hypocrisy of your religious festivals and solemn assemblies.
22. I will not accept your burnt offerings and grain offerings.
I won't even notice all your choice peace offerings.
23. Away with your noisy hymns of praise!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.
24. Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice,
an endless river of righteous living.

25. "Was it to me you were bringing sacrifices and
offerings during the forty years in the wilderness, Israel?
26. No, you served your pagan gods ⏤ Sakkuth your king  god
and Kaiwan your star god ⏤ the images you made for yourselves.
27. So I will send you into exile, to a land east of Damascus,"
says the LORD, whose name is the God of Heaven's Armies.
Amos 5:18-25 NLT

5th strategy.
A simple strategy: Building Blocks

  • Begin by asking God to join you in building into your heart what He would want you to build.
  • Read the passage completely
  • Read the passage again. With the second reading pause after each phrase and think about the phrase. Take the phrase in slowly.
  • You might want to reread the phrase until the meaning, or importance of the phrase really sinks in.
  • After reading each phrase at least once, sometimes more. Go back and reread the entire passage.
  • Do you find that the passage builds phrase upon phrase in importance? Why? or Why not?
  • What phrase do you find most important in the passage?
  • Thank God for this phrase and commit it to memory today.
  • Don't forget to thank God for being here today with you.

A Prayer Today:

Thank you LORD,
Thank you for bringing me to the remember the 18th verse in this fifth chapter.
Please LORD, we ask that You be patient with those that don't know You yet.
Be patient with us, as we share You to those we can.
Help us see the needs.
In your name we pray.
Jehoshua
Amen.

4.

Please leave your name and your last initial below in the comments.
If you have any thoughts that you feel might be a testimony to what God is revealing to you,
feel free to share.
We are praying for you and this is really powerful.
Reading such a prophetic work.
WOW!
Together.

And I will be here tomorrow.
I hope you will be here too.
