Traders being Driven from the Temple

Today's Passage: Luke 19:41-47

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

2.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

Jesus Weeps over Jerusalem

41. But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep.
42. "How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes.
43. Before long your enemies will build ramparts against your walls and encircle you and close in on you from every side.
44. They will crush you into the ground, and your children with you. Your enemies will not leave a single stone in place, because you did not accept your opportunity for salvation.

Jesus Clears the Temple

45 Then Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out the people selling animals for sacrifices.
46. He said to them,
"The Scriptures declare, 'My temple will be a house of prayer,' but you have turned it into a den of thieves."

47. After that, he taught daily in the Temple, but the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the other leaders of the people began planning how to kill him.
48. But they could think of nothing, because all the people hung on every word he said.
Luke 19:41-47 NLT

Reading... Simple Act of Meditation

  • Take this time to read the passage one time through.
  • Then go back and read every verse separately.
  • After reading one verse just close your eyes and think about the words for a few seconds. When you are no longer considering the sweetness of God's word to you, move to the next verse.
  • Continue through the passage.
    • Loving HIM is the purpose.
    • Getting to know HIM is the purpose.
    • Allowing Him to take the day and use us in this day is the purpose.
    • Finding the sweetness He desires to impart is the joy.
  • Thank God for coming and bringing his Holy Presence into your day.

Enemies present themselves in many different ways and in many different situations or relationships. . . to individuals, to friends, to couples, to families, to organizations, to communities. . .
I pray that I, that we may see and understand the peace that is offered to us through Jesus.
May I be an instrument of that peace.

I pray the prayer of Saint Francis.
"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen."
