Robyn's Bible Reading Strategies Applied
5.
Welcome to our little community! OPEN YOUR HEART IN A PRAYERFUL MODE. Today is Friday. Fridays are stretching days. Read on to find out what that means. We have been live since Monday. Is this format working for you? Tomorrow you will receive questions in an email. Please let us know what you think. Today's Passage: Matthew 6: 1-4 "1. Watch out, don't do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others. For you will lose your reward from your Father in Heaven. 2. When you give to someone in need, don't do as the hypocrites do - blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they will receive all the reward they will ever get. 3. But when you give to someone in need, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything will reward you." Matthew 6:1-4 NLT 1. Read from:
2. Invite God to join you and possibly re-read the verses. And now, let's stretch a bit. Ask God to give you the words from this verse that you need to hear today! What is their meaning, what is He saying, are you listening to what he is saying to you? Ask yourself these open ended questions: Do I_______? Who _____? Why do I_______? Will I_______? These are open questions. Are you drawn to the word give? The questions could be anything like the following: Go in your heart and mind and place yourself before God asking something like these? God, do I give? God, do I give enough? God, do I give too much, too little, too openly, not openly enough? God who do I give to? God who do I not give to? God, why do I give? God, why do I give to whom I give to? God, will I give_____? God, will I____? That is just using these questions and putting in the word give from the verse... You could also be called to the words: don't let the left hand know what the right is doing. God, do I let my left hand know what my right is doing? God, why do I ? God, will I? There is even the question you might ask God in your heart? God? What does that even mean, "don't let the left hand know what the right is doing"? 3. Please comment with your first name and last initial below. If you would like to testify to something God is doing in your life, please feel free to share. 4. Go today, and listen. Problems? As I look at this today, I am feeling (as many days), that I am over spent and i have "given my all". I feel like I do try to give as much as I can, when asked, willingly, freely and without "strings" or "fanfare". And today, I have been taxed - at work and at home - and I just don't know if I can give any more? Maybe what I'm giving is not what is really needed? Maybe I need to do more? Maybe what I need to do is take a step back, and breath. And just give God some of my time. I ask God for his guidance as I think about this more deeply. Thank you Robyn for giving me this much needed break from my grind. :) Thank you God for giving us Robyn :)
