A Message about Philistia

Today's Passage: Isaiah 14:28-32

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

2.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

1st strategy
From the Ancients - Lectio Divina

  • Ask God to open your heart and mind to what is written in the passage.
  • Read the passage
  • Re-read the passage looking for 3 words or phrases that really resonate in your heart.
  • Write those words down.
  • Re-read the passage. Of the 3 words which 1 resonates most in your heart?
    • Ask yourself what does this word mean in my life?
    • Where do I need change/growth/revelation?
  • Write this word down. Or, remember this word throughout your day.
  • Ask God to show you meaning from the passage.
  • We read, reflect, and communicate. Share with the community.
  • Don't forget to thank God for being with you during this endeavor to find intimacy with Him.

28. This message came to me the year King Ahaz died:

29. Do not rejoice, you Philistines, that the rod that struck you is broken — that the king who attacked you is dead. For from that snake a more poisonous snake will be born, a fiery serpent to destroy you!
30. I will feed the poor in my pasture; the needy will lie down in peace. But as for you, I will wipe you out with famine and destroy the few who remain.
31. Wail at the gates! Weep in the cities! Melt with fear, you Philistines! A powerful army comes like smoke from the north. Each soldier rushes forward eager to fight.

32. What should we tell the Philistine messengers? Tell them,
"The LORD has built Jerusalem; its walls will give refuge to his oppressed people."
Isaiah 14:28-32 NLT

"The LORD has built Jerusalem; its walls will give refuge to his oppressed people."

This verse resonated with me this morning.

I know God has often built a wall of protection around me. I have found refuge in His walls.
It might not have looked like what others would have called a refuge.
Single mom, teacher/missionary, living every moment trueing God’s provision.
But as I stand, sit, walk, lie down in my 60’s now, I know HE did amazing things.
And I bow in awe of His continual blessing.
Praising God for His protective walls.
