Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

3.

7th strategy.
Repetitive Reading

  • Begin by getting your heart ready to receive the words that God has laid down for us on this page. Ask Him to give you what you need to hear. Ask Him to give you the mind of Christ to be able to remember this strategy and continue it throughout the day.
  • Read the passage completely. Ask God to give you one verse that resonates in your heart today.
  • Write the verse down on a pad of paper, sticky note, or even on your phone in notes or your calendar.
  • Pray and ask God to give you a number of times to repeat this verse throughout the day. Write that number underneath the verse.
  • Or ask Him if it would be better for you to read and repeat the verse three times and then do that again later in the day. Asking how many times to have this little repetitive session and writing that down under the verse.
  • Every time you repeat the verse mark a tally under the verse.
  • Do this throughout the day. Try to reach your set goal or above it.
  • At the end of the day attempt to speak the verse without looking at it.
  • Before bed repeat the verse again either rereading it off of the paper, or quoting it from memory. Either is a glory to God.
  • And remember, God gleans great pleasure when you stop and thank Him for being with your throughout your day

51. Ahaziah son of Ahab began to rule over Israel in the seventeenth year of King Jehoshaphat's reign in Judah. He reigned in Samaria two years.
52. But he did what was evil in the LORD'S sight, following the example of his father and mother and the example of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had led Israel to sin.
53. He served Baal and worshipped him, provoking the anger of the LORD, the God of Israel, just as his father had done.
2 Kings 22:51-53 NLT

  • Begin by inviting God to show you what is the cause and effect hidden in these verses. Ask Him to show you nuggets of wisdom.
  • Read the passage completely.
  • Divide a piece of paper into two columns.
  • Title the first column Cause and the second column Effect

  • Now as you wrap all these thoughts up in your mind. Stop and thank God for being with you this very day.

41. Johoshaphat son of Asa began to rule over Judah in the fourth year of King Ahab's reign in Israel.
42. Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-five years. His mother was Azubah, the daughter of Shilhi

43. Jehoshaphat was a good king, following the example of his father, Asa. He did what was pleasing in the LORD'S sight. During his reign, however, he failed to remove all the pagan shrines, and the people still offered sacrifices and burned incense there.
44. Jehoshaphat also made peace with the king of Israel.

45. The rest of the events in Jehoshaphat's reign, the extent of his power, and the wars he waged are recorded in The book of the History of the Kings of Judah.
46. He banished from the land the rest of the male and female shrine prostitutes, who still continued their practices from the days of his father, Asa.

47. (There was no king in Edom at that time, only a deputy.)

48. Jehoshaphat also built a fleet of trading ships to sail to Ophir for gold. But the ships never set sail, for they met with disaster in their home port of Eziongeber.
49. At one time Ahaziah son of Ahab had proposed to Jehoshaphat, "Let my men sail with your men in the ships." But Jehoshaphat refused the request.

50. When Jehoshaphat died, he was buried with his ancestors in the City of David. Then his son Jehoram became the next king.

29. So King Ahab of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah led their armies against Ramoth-gilead.
30. The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "As we go into battle, I will disguise myself so no one will recognize me, but you wear your royal robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle.
31. Meanwhile, the king of Aram had issued these orders to this thirty-two chariot commanders: "Attack only the king of Israel. Don't bother with anyone else!"
32. So when the Aramean chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat in his royal robes, they went after him. "There is the king of Israel!" they shouted. But when Jehoshaphat called out.
33. the chariot commanders realized he was not the king of Israel, and they stopped chasing him.

34. An Aramean soldier, however, randomly shot an arrow at the Israelite troops and hit the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. "Turn the horses and get me out of here!" Ahab groaned to the driver of his chariot. "I'm badly wounded!"

35. The battle raged all that day, and the king remained propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans. The blood from his wound ran down to the floor of his chariot, and as evening arrived he died.
36. Just as the sun was setting, the cry ran through his troops: "We're done for! Run for your lives!"
37. So the king died, and his body was taken to Samaria and buried there. "
38. Then his chariot was washed beside the pool of Samaria, and dogs came and licked his blood at the place where the prostitutes bathed, just as the LORD had promised.

39. The rest of the events in Ahab's reign and everything he did, including the story of the ivory palace and the towns he built, are recorded in the Book of the History of the Kings of Israel.
40. So Ahab died, and his son Ahaziah became the next king.

A simple strategy: Building Blocks

  • Begin by asking God to join you in building into your heart what He would want you to build.
  • Read the passage completely
  • Read the passage again. With the second reading pause after each phrase/sentence and think about the phrase/sentence. Take the phrase/sentence in slowly.
  • You might want to reread the phrase/sentence until the meaning, or importance of the phrase/sentence really sinks in.
  • After reading each phrase/sentence at least once, sometimes more. Go back and reread the entire passage.
  • Do you find that the passage builds phrase/sentence upon phrase/sentence in importance? Why? or Why not?
  • What phrase/sentence do you find most important in the passage?
  • Thank God for this phrase/sentence and commit it to memory today.
  • Don't forget to thank God for being here today with you.

10. King Ahab of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah, dressed in their royal robes, were sitting on thrones at the threshing floor near the gate of Samaria. All of Ahab's prophets were prophesying there in front of them.
11. One of them, Zedekiah son of Kenaanah, made some iron horns and proclaimed, "This is what the LORD says: With these horns you will gore the Arameans to death!"

12. All the other prophets agreed. "Yes," they said, "go up to Ramoth-gilead and be victorious, for the LORD will give the king victory!"

13. Meanwhile, the messenger who went to get Micaiah said to him, "Look, all the prophets are promising victory for the king. Be sure that you agree with them and promise success."

14. But Micaiah replied, "As surely as the LORD lives, I will say only what the LORD tells me to say."
15. When Micaiah arrived before the king, Ahab asked him, "Micaiah, should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we hold back?"
Micaiah replied sarcastically, "Yes, go up and be victorious, for the LORD will give the king victory!"

16. But the king replied sharply, "How many times must I demand that you speak only the truth to me when you speak for the LORD?"

17. Then Micaiah told him, "In a vision I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, like sheep without a shepherd. And the LORD said, 'Their master has been killed," Send them home in peace.'"

18. "Didn't I tell you?" the king of Israel exclaimed to Jehoshaphat. "He never prophesies anything but trouble for me."

19. Then Micaiah continued, "Listen to what the LORD says! I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the armies of heaven around him on his right and on his left.
20. And the LORD said, 'Who can entice Ahab to go into battle against Ramoth-gilead so he can be killed?'
"There were many suggestions,
21. and finally a spirit approached the LORD and said, 'I can do it.'

22. 'How will you do htis?' the LORD asked.
"And the spirit replied, 'I will go out an inspire al of Ahab's prophets to speak lies.'
"' yYou will succeed,' said the LORD. 'Go ahead and do it.'

23. "So you see, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all your prophets. For the LORD has pronounced your doom."

24. Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah walked up to Micaiah and slapped him across the face. "Since when did the Spirit of the LORD leave me to speak to you?" he demanded.
25. And Micaiah replied, "You will find out soon enough when you are trying to hide in some secret room!"

26. "Arrest him!" the king of Israel ordered. "Take him back to Amon, the governor of the city, and to my son Joash.
27. Give them this order from the king: 'Put this man in prison, and feed him nothing but bread and water until I return safely from the battle!"

28. But Micaiah replied, "If you return safely, it will mean that the LORD has not spoken through me!" Then he added to those standing around, "Everyone mark my words!"
1 Kings 22:10-28 NLT

1. For three years there was no war between Aram and Israel
2. Then during the third year, King Jehoshaphat of Judah went to visit King Ahab of Israel.
3. During the visit, the king of Israel said to his officials, Do you realize that the town of Ramoth-gilead belongs to us? And yet we've done nothing to recapture it from the king of Aram!

4. Then he turned to Jehoshaphat and asked "Will you join me in battle to recover Ramoth-gilead?
Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, "Why, of course! You and I are as one. My troops are your troops, and my horses are your horses."
5. Then Jehoshaphat added, "But first let's find out what the LORD says."

6. So the king of Israel summoned the prophets, about 400 of them, and asked them, "Should I go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should I hold back?"

7. But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there not also a prophet of the LORD here? We should ask him the same question."
8. The king of Israel replied to Jehoshaphat, "There is one more man who could consult the LORD for us, but I hate him He never prophesies anything but trouble for me! His name is Micaiah son of Imlah."
Jehoshaphat replied, "That's not the way a king should talk! Let's hear what he has to say."
9. So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, "Quick! Bring Micaiah son of Imlah."

3.

15th strategy.
Imagine

  • Prepare your heart - that means ask Him to open you to be able to listen well.
  • Ask Jesus to bring you into the very presence of God Himself as you read instructions
  • Imagine the characters in this passage.
  • Are they facing a large enemy? or a challenge?
  • Have they followed God? or have they fled from His guidance?
  • Are they trusting God?
  • Are they experiencing pain, or loss?
  • Imagine them as friends.
  • What would you do if you were there beside them?
  • Would you be willing to encourage them?
  • What would you do if you were experiencing their story?
  • Who would you turn to for guidance? God? A mentor? Satan?
  • Ask God to show you how to lean on Him in times of attack, or challenge.
  • Thank God for His presence with you right now.

13. I have much more to say to you, but I don't want to write it with pen and ink.
14. For I hope to see you soon, and then we will talk face to face.
15. Peace be with you.

Your friends here send you their greetings. Please give my personal greetings to each of our friends there.

3.

9th strategy.
Read and summarize each verse into as few
words as you can. Goal 1 or 2 words.

  • Begin by asking Jesus to cleanse your heart to hear what He has for you to hear.
  • Read the passage completely.
  • After reading through the first time, go back and read the first verse in the passage.
  • Then try to narrow the focus of the verse down to one or two words.
  • Write those words down either on a piece of paper, or on your text messages on your phone.
  • Read the 2nd verse and do the same thing.
  • Complete all the verses in the passage.
  • Sign and date the page in your journal, or send the text message to yourself.
  • Review these words throughout the day.
  • Thank Jesus for the words that He gave you to bring you closer to Him through this day.

5. Dear friend, you are being faithful to God when you care for the traveling teachers who pass through, even though they are strangers to you.
6. They have told the church here of your loving friendships. Please continue providing for such teachers in a manner that pleases God.
7. For they are traveling for the Lord, and they accept nothing from people who are not believers.
8. So we ourselves should support them so that we can be their partners as they teach the truth.

9. I wrote to the church about this, but Diotrephes, who loves to be the leader, refuses to have anything to do with us.
10. When I come, I will report some of the things he is doing and the evil accusations he is making against us. Not only does he refuse to help, he also tells others not to help them. And when they do help, he puts them out of the church.

11. Dear friend, don't let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God's children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.

12. Everyone speaks highly of Demetrius, as does the truth itself. We ourselves can say the same for him, and you know we speak the truth.
3 John 1:5-12 NLT

1104. Concluding Words — Hebrews 13:1-25

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.

Thank you for insight.

3.

8th strategy.
Choose three important verses that speak to you today.
  • Begin by getting your heart ready to receive the words that God has laid down for us on this page. Ask Him to give you what you need to hear. Ask Him to give you the mind of Christ to be able to remember this strategy and continue it throughout the day.
  • Read the passage completely.
  • After reading the first time go back and chose the three most important verses that speak to you today.
  • Ask God to bring those verses back to you through out the day.
  • Find out if by the end of the day only one verse has been thought about more than the others.
  • Thank God for that verse.
  • This is a good strategy to use for long passages.
  • Be sure to stop and thank God for being here with you today.

1. Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.
2. Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!
3. Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself. Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies.
4. Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.

5. Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,
"I will never fail you.
I will never abandon you.
6. So we can say with confidence,
"The LORD is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?"

7. Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.

8. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
9. So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God's grace, not from rules about food, which don't help those who follow them.

10. We have an altar from which the priests in the Tabernacle have no right to eat.
11. Under the old system, the high priest brought the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, and the bodies of the animals were burned outside thecamp.
12. So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make his people holy by means of his own blood.
13. So let us go out to him, oustide the camp, and bear the disgrace he bore.
14. For this wold is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

15. Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God proclaiming our allegiance to his name.
16. And don't forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

17. Obey your spiritual leaders and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.

18. Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to live honorably in everything we do.
19. And especially pray that I will be able to come back to you soon.

20. Now may the God of peace --
who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus,
the great Shepherd of the sheep,
and ratified an eternal covenant
with his blood --
21. may equip you with all you need for doing his will.
May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is please to him.
All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.
Hebrews 13:1-25 NLT

22. I urge you, dear brothers and sisters, to pay attention to what I have written in this brief exhortation.
23. I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been released from jail.  If he comes here soon. I will bring him wiht me to see you.

1103.

1
. A Call to Listen to God

Today's Passage: Hebrews 12:13-28

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

2.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

6th strategy.
Cause and Effect
  • Begin by inviting God to show you what is the cause and effect hidden in these verses. Ask Him to show you nuggets of wisdom.
  • Read the passage completely.
  • Divide a piece of paper into two columns.
  • Title the first column Cause and the second column Effect
  • Reread the passage. This time ask if there are any instructions that are given that have a direct end result.
  • Write down the causes (in Cause column)and the effects (in the Effects column).
  • Do you find a pattern?
  • What are your thoughts?
  • Now as you wrap all these thoughts up in your mind. Stop and thank God for being with you this very day.

14. Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.
15. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
16. Make  sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal.
17. You know that afterward, when he wanted his father's blessing, he has rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears.

18. You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Istraelites did at Mount Sinai.
19. For they heard an awesome trumpet blast and a voice so terrible that they begged God to stop speaking.
20. They staggered back under God's command: "If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death."
21. Moses himself was so frightened at the sight that he said, "I am terrified and trembling."

22. No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering.
23. You have come to the assembly of God's firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect.
24. You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.

25. Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven!
26. When God spoke from Mount Sinai has voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: "Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heaven also."
27. This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.

28. Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.
29. For our God is a devouring fire.
Hebrew 12:13-28 NLT
