Jesus Foretells the Future

1.

Today's Passage: Matthew 24:15-29

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

15. The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about ⏤ the  sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the Holy Place."
(Reader, pay attention!)
16. "Then those  in Judea must flee to the hills.
17. A person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack.
18. A person out in the field must not return even to get a coat.
19. How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days.
20. And pray that your flight will not be in winter or on the Sabbath.
21. For there will be greater anguish than at any time since the world began.
And it will never be so great again.
22. In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive.
But it will be shortened for the sake of God's chosen ones.

23. Then if anyone tells you, 'Look, here is the Messiah,' or 'There he is,' don't believe it.
24. For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up
and perform great signs and wonders so as to receive,
if possible, even God's chosen ones.
25. See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.

26. So if someone tells you, 'Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,'
don't bother to go and look.
Or, 'Look,' he is hiding here,' don't believe it!
27.
For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west,
so it will be when the Son of Man comes.
28. Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby,
so these signs indicate that the end is near.

29. "Immediately after the anguish of those days,
the sun will be darkened,
the moon will give no light,
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

Matthew 24:15-29 NLT

2.

5th strategy.
A simple strategy: Building Blocks

  • Begin by asking God to join you in building into your heart what He would want you to build.
  • Read the passage completely
  • Read the passage again. With the second reading pause after each phrase and think about the phrase. Take the phrase in slowly.
  • You might want to reread the phrase until the meaning, or importance of the phrase really sinks in.
  • After reading each phrase at least once, sometimes more. Go back and reread the entire passage.
  • Do you find that the passage builds phrase upon phrase in importance? Why? or Why not?
  • What phrase do you find most important in the passage?
  • Thank God for this phrase and commit it to memory today.
3.

Thank you Jesus for giving us these instructions.
So much to understand. We begin to question when you will return.
We will never know. But having these guidelines will help us.
Please bless us as we desire to be well-prepared for your return.

We Love you LORD.
In you name we pray Jehoshua,
Amen.

4.

Thank you for leaving your name and your last initial.
We are excited about what God has in all of our futures.

And I'll be back,
I pray you will be too.

157. Signs of Christ's Return

Jesus Foretells the Future

1.

Today's Passage: Matthew 24:1-14

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

1.  As Jesus was leaving the Temple grounds,
his disciples pointed out to him the various Temple buildings.
2. But he responded, "Do you see all these
buildings? I tell you the truth,
they will be completely demolished.
Not one stone will be left on top of another!"

3. Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives.
His disciples came to him privately and said,
"Tell us, when will all this happen?
What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?"

4. Jesus told them, "Don't let anyone mislead you,
5. for many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Messiah.'
They will deceive many.
6. And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don't panic.
Yes, these things must take place, but the end won't follow immediately.
7. Nation will go to war against nation and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be famine and earthquakes in many parts of the world.
8. but all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.

9. "Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed.
You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers
10. And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other.
11. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.
12. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.
13. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
14. And the Good News about the Kingdom
will be preached throughout the whole world,
so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.

Matthew 24: 1-14 NLT

2.

8th strategy.
Chose three important verses that speak to you today.

  • Begin by getting your heart ready to receive the words that God has laid down for us on this page. Ask Him to give you what you need to hear. Ask Him to give you the mind of Christ to be able to remember this strategy and continue it throughout the day.
  • Read the passage completely.
  • After reading the first time go back and chose the three most important verses that speak to you today.
  • Ask God to bring those verses back to you through out the day.
  • Find out if by the end of the day only one verse has been thought about more than the others.
  • Thank God for that verse.
  • This is a good strategy to use for long passages.

3.

Thank you for Your words to us Jesus.
We have lived thousands of years waiting for your return.
However, Your words remind us to be alert.
We know not what Your plan is.
Give us steadfastness to keep our eyes on the horizon.
Remind us to never let ourselves be caught off guard.
You will return.
And when You do, it won't be a pretty sight.
So give us strength to prepare by placing Your words in our hearts and in our minds.
Thank you Jesus
In Your name Jeshoshua
we pray
Amen.

4.

Thank you LORD for those who are here today.
Bless them.
Please leave your name and your last initial in the comments below.

And, I'll be back.
I pray you will be too.

A Hymn of Praise to the LORD

1.

Today's Passage: Jeremiah 51:15-19

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

15. The Lord made the earth by his power,
and he preserves it by his wisdom.
With his own understanding
he stretched out the heavens.
16. When he speaks in the thunder,
the heavens are filled with water.
He causes the clouds to rise over the earth.
He sends the lightning with the rain and
releases the wind from his storehouses.

17. The whole human race is foolish and
has no knowledge!
The craftsmen are disgraced by the idols they make,
for their carefully shaped works are a fraud.
These idols have no breath or power.
18. Idols are worthless; they are ridiculous lies!
On the day of reckoning they will all be destroyed.
19. But the God of Israel is no idol!
He is the Creator of everything that exists,
including his people, his own special possession.
The Lord of Heaven's Armies is his name!
Jeremiah 51: 15-19 NLT

  • What phrase do you find most important in the passage?

3.

We come before You, Lord of Heaven's Armies.
We praise You.
We recognize Your grandeur and Your Incomprehensibility.
There is no way we can wrap our heads around who You are in completion.
All we can do is bow down and give You all praise and glory.
We worship You in our hearts and we desire to serve You in our lives.
Help us LORD.
In your name we pray.
Amen.

Today's Passage: Colossians 3:18-25

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

18. Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord.

19. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.

20. Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord.
21. Fathers, do not aggravate your children,
or they will become discouraged.

22. Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do.
Try to please them all the time,
not just when they are watching you.
Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord.
23. Work willingly at whatever you do,
as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
24. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward,
and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
25. But if you do what is wrong,
you will be paid back for the wrong you have done.
For God has no favorites.
Colossians 3:18-25 NLT

2.

3rd strategy for familiar passages.  Read Anew!
Read the passage from Last to First!

  • Begin with asking God to open your heart to allow you to see these verses afresh with new eyes and hear with new ears.
  • Now begin reading Chapter 3 beginning with verse 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20...18. (If there is a sentence please take the full sentence in the reverse reading.)
  • Does the passage change in meaning? Does it give you a new insight into it?
  • Finalize with re-reading the passage in the way it was originally written.
  • Look back over the verses. Does any one verse stand out in your heart?
  • Pray over that verse. Place it in our heart, your journal, on a 3X5 card or sticky note. Tape it in your bible, on a mirror, or on your desk.
 3.

Thank you God for giving us a guide to live our lives.
Prompting us to live as You would have have us live give us
wisdom to handle many situations.
We are Your sheep and we need Your guidance.
Help us do what you have required of us
In your Name we pray,
Amen

4.

Thank you for being here on this page with us.
We are here to glorify God.
May God be your all.

And I'll be back,
I pray you will be here too.

Paul Remembers His Visit to the Church in Thessalonica

1.

Today's Passage: 1 Thessalonians 2:13-16

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

13. Therefore, we never stop thanking God
that when you received his message from us,
you didn't think of our words as mere human ideas.
You accepted what we said as the very word of God ⏤ which,
of course, it is.
And this word continues to work in you who believe.

14. And then, dear brothers and sisters,
you suffered persecution from your own countrymen.
In this way you imitated the believers in God's churches in Judea who,
because of their belief in Christ Jesus,
suffered from their own people, the Jews.
15. For some of the Jews killed the prophets,
and some even killed the Lord Jesus.
Now they have persecuted us, too.
They fail to please God and work against all humanity
16. as they try to keep us from preaching
the Good News of salvation to the Gentiles.
By doing this, they continue to pile up their sins.
But the anger of God has caught up with them at last.
1 Thessalonians 2:13-16 NLT

A Prayer of Praise

1.

Today's Passage: Jude 1:24-25

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

24. Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy  into his glorious presence without a single fault.
25. All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty,  power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.
Jude 1:24-25 NLT

2.

2nd strategy is meditation in  WORSHIP

  • Begin with asking God to open your heart to what He has for you to hear today.
  • Read a passage of the Scripture
  • Is a miracle in the passage? Is a relationship deepened in some way? Has God stepped in and shown His power, His love, or even His protection of His end goal? Has Jesus, lived life, shown love, or taught?
  • Whatever the passage holds that brings you an awareness of who He is, praise Him for that revelation. Give Him glory and honor and praise. Thank Him for what He has given.
  • Think on these things. Ponder them. Reread the passage. Write about what you read. Pray! This is Worship!
3.

Thank you LORD,
You are here with us.
Thank you LORD,
You are here with us.
Your presence - what a glorious gift.
Thank you LORD.
You are here with us.
Amen

4.

Thank you for being here to meet with us in this place.
Please pray as we have spent time in much prayer about how to move forward in this endeavor.
We know we made a pretty big error recently when we sent an email showing all of the emails to everyone. I, Robyn, did that. I am sorry. I hope you will forgive me.
But, one good thing. It means I am learning how NOT to do some things.

Please leave your name and your last initial below in the comments.
I know only this.
He has called me to share His words to others.
He took my voice.
So I will use my fingers and type, writing His praises for any and all to hear that desire to.
I cannot turn to the left or the right. I must move toward His call.

And I'll be back,
I hope you will be too.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

17. But you, my dear friends, must remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ said.
18. They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to  satisfy their ungodly desires.
19. These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural   instincts because they do not have God's Spirit in them.

20. But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of  the Holy Spirit,
21. and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who will bring you eternal life. In this way,  you will keep yourselves safe in God's love.

22. And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering.
23. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others,   but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.
Jude 1:17-23 NLT

The Lord Will Execute Justice

1.

Today's Passage: Jude 1:12-16

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

12. When these people eat with you in your fellowship meals commemorating the Lord's love,  they are like dangerous reefs that can shipwreck you.
They are like shameless shepherds who  care only for themselves.
They are like clouds blowing over the land without giving any rain.
They are like trees in autumn that are doubly dead,
for they bear no fruit and have been pulled  up by the roots.
13. They are like wild waves of the sea,
churning up the foam of their shameful deeds.
They are  like wandering stars, doomed forever to blackest darkness.

14. Enoch, who lived in the seventh generation after Adam,
prophesied about these people.
He  said "Listen!
The Lord is coming with countless thousands of his holy ones
15 to execute judgment on the people of the world.
He will convict every person of all the  ungodly things they have done
and for all the insults that ungodly sinners have spoken against  him."

16. These people are grumblers and complainers,
living only to satisfy their desires.
They brag  loudly about themselves,
and they flatter others to get what they want.
Jude 1:12-16 NLT

2.

11th Reading Strategy:

Simple acts of meditation are not difficult.
If they were difficult God would not encourage every person to do them.
But they are profitable.
They bring us closer to the heart of God.

  • Take this time to read the passage one time through.
  • Then go back and read every verse separately.
  • After reading one verse just close your eyes and think about the words for a few seconds. When you are no longer considering the sweetness of God's word to you, move to the next verse.
  • Continue through the passage.
  • Loving HIM is the goal. Getting to know HIM is the goal. Allowing Him to take your day and use you in this day is the goal.
3.

Father, God.
Dear Abba, you meet us here with your arms open wide.
You warn us of people that are within our own churches, work places, and even families.
We must be aware of so many things.
So, we bring this before you and ask you to protect us.
Give us discernment as to which people are open to us and keeping us safe.
In your name, we pray.
Amen.

4.

Please leave you name and your last initial.
We all enjoy reading all you share.

May God bless you in this day.

I'll be back, when the day is new.
I pray you will too

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

8. In the same way, these people ⏤ who claim authority from their dreams ⏤ live immoral  lives, defy authority, and scoff at supernatural beings.
9. But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of  blasphemy,  but simply said, "The Lord rebuke you!" (This took place when Michael was  arguing with the devil  about Moses' body.)
10. But these people scoff at things they do not understand. Like unthinking animals, they do   whatever their instincts tell them, and so they bring about their own destruction.
11. What sorrow awaits them! For they follow in the footsteps of Cain, who killed his brother.  Like  Balaam, they deceive people for money. And like Korah, they perish in their rebellion.
Jude 1: 8-11 NLT

2.

5th strategy.
A simple strategy:
Building Blocks

3.

Oh what power words you have given us here, precious LORD.
Protect us from ourselves. Keep our eyes on you LORD.
Don't let us become enamored with the world.
Hold us tightly to your bosom.
We want to be your children.
Keep us pure.
In your name I pray.
Amen.

4.

Please leave your name and your last initial.

The Danger of False Teachers

1.

Today's Passage: Jude 1:1-7

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

1. This letter is from Jude,
a slave of Jesus Christ and a brother of James.

I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father,
who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ.
2. May God give you more and more mercy, peace, and love.

3. Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share.
But now I find that I must write about something else,
urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people.
4. I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches,
saying that God's marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives.
The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago,
for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

5. So I want to remind you, though you already know these things,
that Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt,
but later he destroyed those who did not remain faithful.
6. And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within
the limits of authority God gave them
but left the place where they belonged.
God has kept them securely chained in prisons of darkness,
waiting for the great day of judgment.
7. And don't forget Sodom and Gomorrah
and their neighboring towns,
which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion.
Those cities were destroyed by fire
and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God's judgment.
Jude 1: 1-7 NLT

2.

9th strategy.
Read and summarize each verse into as few words as you can. Goal 1 or 2 words.

  • Begin by asking Jesus to cleanse your heart to hear what He has for you to hear.
  • Read the passage completely.
  • After reading through the first time, go back and read the first verse in the passage.
  • Then try to narrow the focus of the verse down to one or two words.
  • Write those words down either on a piece of paper, or on your text messages on your phone.
  • Read the 2nd verse and do the same thing.
  • Complete all the verses in the passage.
  • Sign and date the page in your journal, or send the text message to yourself.
  • Review these words throughout the day.
  • Thank Jesus for the words that He gave you to bring you closer to Him through this day.
3.

Thank you Lord,
We are here to praise you and to worship you.
We come and lay down our burdens and pick up your forgiveness.
Allow us to enter your Grace and your Love.
Produce within us a deep desire to find health in our minds and spirits.
We are yours.
In your name we pray,
Jehoshua,
Amen

4.

So glad you are here today.
Please leave your name and your last initial.
We are all here to know Him in a deeper and more intimate way.

I know I am thankful for His delight in our desire.

I'll be back,
I hope you will too.
