Parable of the Burning Pot

1.

Today's Passage: Ezekiel 24:1-14

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.

1. On January 15, during the ninth year of King Jehoiachin's captivity,
this message came to me from the LORD:
2. "Son of man, write down today's date, because on this very day the
king of Babylon is beginning his attack against Jerusalem.
3. Then give these rebels an illustration with this message from the Sovereign LORD:

"Put a pot on the fire, and pour in some water.
4. Fill it with choice pieces of meat ⏤ the rump and the shoulder
and all the most tender cuts.
5. Use only the best sheep from the flock, and heap fuel on the fire beneath the pot.
Bring the pot to a boil, and cook the bones along with the meat.

6. "Now this is what the Sovereign LORD says:
What sorrow awaits Jerusalem, the city of murderers!
She is a cooking pot whose corruption can't be cleaned out.
Take the meat out in random order, for no piece is better than another.
7. For the blood of her murders is splashed on the rocks.
It isn't even spilled on the ground, where the dust could cover it!
8. So I will splash her blood on a rock for all to see,
an expression of my anger and vengeance against her.

9 "This is what the Sovereign LORD says:
What sorrow awaits Jerusalem, the city of murderers!
I myself will pile up the fuel beneath her.
10. Yes, heap on the wood! Let the fire roar to make the pot boil.
Cook the meat with many spices, and afterward burn the bones.
11. Now set the empty pot on the coals.
Heat it red hot!
Burn away the filth and corruption.
12. But it's hopeless; the corruption can't be cleaned out.
So throw it into the fire.
13. Your impurity is your lewdness and the corruption of your idolatry.
I tried to cleanse you, but you refused.
So now you will remain in your filth until my fury against you has been satisfied.

14. "I, the LORD, have spoken! The time has come, and I won't hold back.
I will not change my mind, and I will have no pity on you.
You will be judged on the basis of all your wicked actions,
says the Sovereign LORD."
Ezekiel 24:1-14 NLT

2.

14th strategy.
Instructions Given

  • Prepare your heart
  • Ask Jesus to bring you into the very presence of God Himself as you read instructions
  • Imagine God or Jesus handing these instructions.
  • Who are the instructions given to? a group, a nation, a particular person?
  • Why is He giving these instructions?
  • Is there a consequence from these instructions either good or bad?
  • Contemplate these instructions.
  • List them either mentally or write them down.
  • What do they mean? What do they represent?
  • Are these instructions wise for anyone anytime to follow?
  • Would they help your own life, if applied?
  • Pray over what God has given.
  • Thank Him for His guidance either in the past, or presently.

3.

God thank you for the book of Ezekiel.
Your ways are not our ways.

Thank You.
In Your name we pray.
Jehoshua,
Amen.

4.

Please leave your first and last initials.

Leave a comment if these verses bring up questions or answers.

We are so thankful for your presence.

220 days.

And I will be back here tomorrow,
I hope I will see you here too.

Stephen is Arrested

1.

Today's Passage: Acts 6:1-15

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.
1

1. But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent.
The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers,
saying that their widows were being discriminated against
in the daily distribution of food.

2. So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said,
"We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God,
not running a food program.
3. And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and
are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility.
4. Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word."

5. Everyone liked this idea, and they chose the following. Stephen
(a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit), Philip, Procorus,
Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas of Antioch
(an earlier convert to the Jewish faith).
6. These seven were presented to the apostles, who prayed
for them as they laid their hands on them.

7. So God's message continued to spread. The number of
believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the
Jewish priests were converted, too.

8. Stephen, a man full of God's grace and power, performed
amazing miracles and signs among the people.
9. But one day some men from the Synagogue of Freed Slaves,
as it was called, started to debate with him. They were Jews from
Cyrene, Alexandria, Cilicia, and the province of Asia.
10. None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit
with which Stephen spoke.

11. So they persuaded some men to lie about Stephen, saying,
"We heard him blaspheme Moses, and even God."
12. This roused the people, the elders, and the teachers of
religious law. So they arrested Stephen and brought him
before the high council.

13. The lying witnesses said, "This man is always speaking
against the holy Temple and against the law of Moses.
14. We have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will
destroy the Temple and change the customs Moses handed down to us."

15. At this point everyone in the high council stared at Stephen,
because his face became as bright as an angel's.
Acts 6:1-15 NLT

2.

15th strategy.
Imagine

  • Prepare your heart - that means ask Him to open you to be able to listen well.
  • Ask Jesus to bring you into the very presence of God Himself as you read instructions
  • Imagine the characters in this passage.
  • Are they facing a large enemy? or a challenge?
  • Have they followed God? or have they fled from His guidance?
  • Are they experiencing pain, or loss?
  • Imagine them as friends.
  • What would you do if you were there beside them?
  • Would you be willing to encourage them?
  • What would you do if you were experiencing their story?
  • Who would you turn to for guidance? God? A mentor? Satan?
  • Ask God to show you how to lean on Him in times of attack, or challenge.
  • Thank God for His presence with you right now.

3.

Thank you LORD for these historical loggings of the beginnings of your church.
Help us see what You want us to see in these words.
We enter Your words in obedience.
Thank You.
In Your name we pray,
Jehoshua.
Amen
.

4.

Please leave your first and last initials.
We are glad to see you here.

We are always thankful for the time spent here.
Thank you for coming and joining in this community.

And here we are.

Walking daily in Your words.
Let us not grow weary doing good.

We pray for you!
I pray daily for you!

God is here with us.
Blessings on your day.

And I will be back here tomorrow,
I hope I will see you here too.

Samuel's Birth and Dedication

1.

Today's Passage: 1 Sa
muel 1:19-28

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.

19. The entire family got up early the next morning and went to
worship the LORD once more. Then they returned home to Ramah.
When Elkanah slept with Hannah, the LORD remembered her plea,
20. and in due time she gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel,
for she said, "I asked the LORD for him."

21. The next year Elkanah and his family went on their annual trip
to offer a sacrifice to the LORD.
22. But Hannah did not go. She told her husband,
"Wait until the boy is weaned. Then I will take him to the
Tabernacle and leave him there with the LORD permanently."

23. "Whatever you think is best," Elkanah agreed. "Stay here for now,
and may the LORD help you keep your promise." So she stayed home
and nursed the boy until he was weaned.

24. When the child was weaned, Hannah took him to the
Tabernacle in Shiloh. They brought along a three -year-old bull
for the sacrifice and a basket of flour and some wine.
25. After sacrificing the bull, they brought the boy to Eli.
27. "Sir, do you remember me?" Hannah asked. "I am the woman
who stood here several years ago praying to the LORD.
27. I asked the LORD to give me this boy, and he has granted my request.
28. Now I am giving him to the LORD, and he will belong to the LORD
his whole life." And they worshiped the LORD there.
1 Samuel 1:19-28 NLT

2.

4th strategy.
Is this a who, what, when, where, or how passage?

  • Begin by inviting God into your reading. Ask Him to join you and show you the plot of this passage.
  • Read the passage
  • Ask yourself as you read the passage which is most important in the passage.
    • Is who the passage about the most important thing?
    • Is what the passage is about the most important thing?
    • Is when or where the passage takes place the most important thing?
    • Or is how the passage presented, worked out in time, or motivates the reader the most important thing...?
  • After you decide which is the most important vehicle of the passage, re-read it.
  • Contemplate if this passage could bring you to a fuller understanding of God and His purposes.
  • Thank God for being with you in this endeavor.

3.

Thank You dear LORD for being here with us as we read Your words.
We come here today to continue learning about Hannah and Samuel.
Teach us what You want to teach us.
In Your name I pray,
Jehoshua,
Amen

4.

Please leave your first and last initial in the name boxes.
Isn't it interesting to read how Samuel was born?

We are learning, and growing every time we read His word.
And through His Spirit God will teach and touch our hearts.
It has been wonderful to learn about Samuel and Hannah.

We pray for you!
I pray daily for you!

God is here with us.
Blessings on your day.

And I will be back here tomorrow,
I hope I will see you here too.

Hannah Prays for a Son

1.

Today's Passage: 1 Samuel 1:9-18

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.

9. Once after a sacrificial meal at Shiloh, Hannah got up and went to pray.
Eli the priest was sitting at his customary place beside the entrance of the Tabernacle.
10. Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the LORD,
11. And she made this vow: "O LORD of Heaven's Armies, if you will look
upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give
him back to you. He will be yours for his entire lifetime, and as a
sign that he has been dedicated to the LORD, has hair will never be cut."

12. As she was praying to the LORD, Eli watched her.
13. Seeing her lips moving but hearing no sound he thought she had been drinking.
14. "Must you come here drunk?" he demanded. "Throw away your wine!"

15. "Oh no, sir!" she replied. "I haven't been drinking wine or anything stronger.
But I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the LORD.
16. Don't think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of
great anguish and sorrow."

17. "In that case," Eli said, "go in peace! May the God of Israel grant
the request you have asked of him."

18. "Oh, thank you, sir!" she exclaimed. Then she went back and began
to eat again, and she was no longer sad.
1 Samuel 1:9-13 NLT

2.

12th strategy.
History - Oh wow, that is where it comes from.

  • Open your heart. Begin with confession.
  • Ask God to prompt you to hear Him and what He wants you to come away with.
  • Read the passage.
  • Does this passage answer questions or lay down foundations of traditions you have often wondered about?
  • Read the passage again.
  • Take a moment to highlight the verses that answer a question you have often wondered about.
  • Has a particular spiritual practice been born out these particular passages. If so, write the spiritual practice down, and then the scripture book and numbers corresponding to it.
  • You might consider writing this in the margin of your bible. or even in the inside cover for future reference.
  • End by asking God to reveal to you the reasons for His traditions. Is there a meaning that applies to you today?
  • Don't forget to thank God for being with you right where you are, right now.

3.

Today we are using the same strategy as we did yesterday.
I am so thankful that you came back today to find out what happens next...

Abba,
Your story is filled with human pain and God miracles.
Thank you for your availability to us.
Thank you that we can cry out to You in the midst of our pain.
Please help us see You as the powerful God that you are.
Give us hope and when hope fails, remind us to trust You.
In Your name,
Jehoshua
We pray,
Amen.

4.

Please leave your first and last initial in the name box below.
If you can please share anything that God is revealing, feel free.

We are so excited that God is the one that is bringing us together here.

Thank you to those of you that are so faithful.

We are encouraged.

God is here with us.
Blessings on your day.

And I will be back here tomorrow,
I hope I will see you here too.

Elkanah and His Wives

1.

Today's Passage: 1 Samuel 1:1-8

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.

Author: Uncertain/ some have suggested Samuel and the prophets Nathan and Gad
Date Written: Uncertain, perhaps around 1000 BC

1. There was a man named Elkanah who lived in Ramah
in the region of Zuph in the hill country of Ephraim.
He was the son of Jeroham, son of Elihu, son of Tohu,
son of Zuph, of Ephraim.
2. Elkanah had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah.
Peninnah had children, but Hannah did not.

3. Each year Elkanah would travel to Shiloh to
worship and sacrifice to the LORD Of Heaven's Armies at the Tabernacle.
The priests of the LORD at that time were the two sons of Eli⏤Hophni and Phinehas.
4. On the days Elkanah presented his sacrifice,
he would give portions of the meat to Peninnah and each of her children.
5. And though he loved Hannah, he would give her only one choice
portion because the LORD had given her no children.
6. So Peninnah would taunt Hannah and make fun of her because
the LORD had kept her from having children.
7. Year after year it was the same⏤Peninnah would taunt
Hannah as they went to the Tabernacle. Each time,
Hannah would be reduced to tears and would not even eat.

8. "Why are you crying, Hannah?" Elkannah would ask.
"Why aren't you eating? Why be downhearted just because you
have no children? You have me⏤isn't that better than having ten sons?"
1 Samuel 1:1-8 NLT

2.

12th strategy.
History - Oh wow, that is where it comes from.

Again, I would like to emphasize, simple acts of meditation are not so much difficult, as uncomfortable.
God wants you to know how His story happened.
How He created the earth, made his children, and how traditions became interwoven into his family.

3.

Thank you Abba.
You answer prayer.
Thank you for your story.
Thank you for the history we begin to read here.
Thank you for sharing how you laid out your plan.
Thank you for continuing your plan.
Thank you for allowing us to be in your plan.
Help us to know how to listen.
In Your name we pray,
Jehoshua, Jesus Son of God,
Amen.

4.

Please leave your last and first initials.

If you find something interesting in your contemplation today, please leave a comment.
Or simply type a period.

We are happy that you are here today.
We are blessed in your time with us.

Before your day is finished, thank God for allowing you to be reading about Samuel.

We pray for you!
I pray daily for you!

God is here with us.
Blessings on your day.

And I will be back here tomorrow,
I hope I will see you here too.

215. Their Ministry Commended

Paul's Hardships

1.

Today's Passage: 2 Corinthians 6:1-13

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.

1. As God's partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God's kindness
and then ignore it.
2. For God says, "At just the right time, I heard you. One the day of salvation,
I helped you."
Indeed, the "right time" is now. Today is the day of salvation.
3. We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find
fault with our ministry.
4. In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently
endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.
5. We have been beaten, been put in prison, faced angry mobs, worked to
exhaustion, endured sleepless nights, and gone without food.
6. We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness,
by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.
7. We faithfully preach the truth. God's power is working in us.
We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack
and the left hand for defense.
8. We serve God whether people honor us or despise us, whether they
slander us or praise us. We are honest, but they call us impostors.
9. We are ignored, even though we are well known. We live close to death,
but we are still alive. We have been beaten, but we have not been killed.
10. Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor,
but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing,
and yet we have everything.

11. Oh, dear Corinthian friends! We have spoken honestly with you,
and our hearts are open to you.
12. There is no lack of love on our part, but you have
withheld your love from us.
13. I am asking you to respond as if you were my own children.
Open your hearts to us!
2 Corinthians 6:1-13 NLT

2.

5th strategy.
A simple strategy: Building Blocks

  • Begin by asking God to join you in building into your heart what He would want you to build.
  • Read the passage completely
  • Read the passage again. With the second reading pause after each phrase and think about the phrase. Take the phrase in slowly.
  • You might want to reread the phrase until the meaning, or importance of the phrase really sinks in.
  • After reading each phrase at least once, sometimes more. Go back and reread the entire passage.
  • Do you find that the passage builds phrase upon phrase in importance? Why? or Why not?
  • What phrase do you find most important in the passage?
  • Thank God for this phrase and commit it to memory today.
  • Don't forget to thank God for being here today with you.

3.

Thank you for your presence here with us today Abba.
You have blessed us to know a bit of the life of the Christian in the past.
We know that many are still persecuted in our world today.
Please allow us to pray for our brothers and sisters.
Please remind us to be thankful for those who came before us.
Keep us willing and ready to serve You in day and night.
In your name we pray,
Jehoshua
Amen.

4.

Please leave your first and last initial.

Thank you for joining us.
I pray that you are encouraged by Paul and those who joined him in their love to share
with others the Good News.

And as we open our hearts may we not grow weary in doing good.

Have a wonderful and blessed day walking with the LORD.

Blessings on your day.
And I will be back here tomorrow,
I hope I will see you here too.

Job Speaks of Wisdom and Understanding

1.

Today's Passage: Job 28:1-28

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.

1. "People know where to mine silver and how to refine gold.
2. They know where to dig iron from the earth and how to smelt copper from rock.
3. They know how to shine light in the darkness and explore the farthest regions
of the earth as they search in the dark for ore.
4. They sink a mine shaft into the earth far from where anyone lives.
They descend on ropes, swinging back and forth.
5. Food is grown on the earth above, but down below, the earth is melted as by fire.
6. Here the rocks contain precious lapis lazuli, and the dust contains gold.
7. These are treasures no bird of prey can see, no falcon's eye observe.
8. No wild animal has walked upon these treasures; no lion has ever set has paw there.
9. People know how to tear apart flinty rocks and overturn the roots of mountains.
10. They cut tunnels in the rocks and uncover precious stones.
11. They dam up the trickling streams and bring to light the hidden treasures.

12. "But do people know where to find wisdom? Where can they find understanding?
13. No one knows where to find it, for it is not found among the living.
14. 'It is not here,' says the ocean. 'Nor is it here,' says the sea.
15. It cannot be bought with gold. It cannot be purchased with silver.
16. It's worth more than all the gold of Ophir, greater than precious onyx or lapis lazuli.
17. Wisdom is more valuable than gold and crystal. It cannot be purchased
with jewels mounted in fine gold.
18. Coral and jasper are worthless in trying to get it. The price of wisdom is far above rubies.
19. Precious peridot from Ethiopia cannot be exchanged for it.
It's worth more than the purest gold.

20. "But do people know where to find wisdom? Where can they find understanding?
21. It is hidden from the eyes of all humanity. Even the sharp-eyed birds in the sky
cannot discover it.
22. Destruction and Death say, 'We've heard only rumors of where wisdom can be found.'

23. "God alone understands the way to wisdom; he knows where it can be found,
24. for he looks throughout the whole earth and sees everything under the heavens.
25. He decided how hard the winds would blow and how much rain should fall.
26. He made the laws for the rain and laid out a path for the lightning.
27. Then he saw wisdom and evaluated it. He set it in place and examined it thoroughly.
28. And this is what he says to all humanity;
'The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.'"
Job 28:1-28 NLT

2.

16th strategy.
Repeating Sentences or Themes in the Text

  • Stop and pray.
  • Ask God to open your heart to hear what He is calling you to take away from your time together this day.
  • Take the time to read this passage one time.
  • Do you find that there are repeating sentences or themes in the text.
  • If so, underline each of the repetitions.
  • In the Bible we know that if thing are repeated they are done so for emphasis.
  • So, ponder the repetitions and ask God to reveal to you why he would have them repeat.
  • This might not come to you all at once. It might not even come to you today.
  • But, if you ask God to reveal this to you, He will give you an answer.
  • I have even waited as much as years for revelation. But oh when it has been revealed - celebration occurs.
  • Be sure to thank God for meeting with you today.

3.

Thank you LORD.
You understand wisdom.
Help us to enter into Your wisdom on a daily basis.
We love You LORD.
In your holy name we pray,
Jehoshua,
Amen.

4.

Please leave your first and last initials.

We value your thoughts.

I hope that God moves you in your day today.
I pray that you see His hand in your actions, your heart, and your dreams.

I am praying for you today!

Be blessed.

Remember I am praying for you - DAILY!
And I will be back here tomorrow,
I hope I will see you here too.

213. Mourning over the Locust Plague

213.

The Devastation of Locust

1.

Today's Passage: Joel 1:1-20

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.

1. The LORD gave this message to Joel son of Pethuel.
2. Hear this, you leaders of the people. Listen, all who live in the land. In all your history,
has anything like this happened before?

3. Tell your children about it in the years to come, and let your children tell their children.
Pass the story down from generation to generation.

4. After the cutting locusts finished eating the crops, the swarming locusts took what was left!
After them came the hopping locusts, and then the stripping locusts, too!

 5. Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail, all you wine-drinkers! All the grapes are ruined,
and all your sweet wine is gone.

6. A vast army of locusts has invaded my land, a terrible army too numerous to count.
Its teeth are like lions' teeth, its fangs like those of a lioness.

7. It has destroyed my grapevines and ruined my fig trees, stripping their bark
and destroying it, leaving the branches white and bare.

8. Weep like a bride dressed in black, mourning the death of her husband.
9. For there is no grain or wine to offer at the Temple of the LORD. So the priests are mourning.
The ministers of the LORD are weeping.

10. The fields are ruined, the land is stripped bare. The grain is destroyed,
the grapes have shriveled, and the olive oil is gone.

11. Despair, all you farmers! Wail, all you vine growers! Weep, because the wheat
and the barley  ⏤ all the crops of the field ⏤are ruined.

12. The grapevines have dried up, and the fig trees have withered. The pomegranate trees, palm    trees, and apple trees ⏤all the fruit trees ⏤have dried up. And the people's joy has dried
up with  them.

13.Dress yourselves in burlap and weep, you priests! Wail, you who serve before the altar!
Come, spend the night in burlap, you ministers of my God. For there is no grain or
wine to offer at the Temple of your God.

14. Announce a time of fasting; call the people together for a solemn meeting.
Bring the leaders and all the people of the land into the Temple of the LORD your God,
and cry out to him there.

15. The day of the LORD is near, the day when destruction comes from the Almighty.
How terrible that day will be!

16. Our food disappears before our very eyes. No joyful celebrations are held
in the house of our God.

17. The seeds die in the parched ground, and the grain crops fail.
The barns stand empty, and granaries are abandoned.

18. How the animals moan with hunger! The herds of cattle wander about confused,
because they have no pasture. The flocks of sheep and goats bleat in misery.

19. LORD, help us! The fire has consumed the wilderness pastures,
and flames have burned up all the trees.

20. Even the wild animals cry out to you because the streams have dried up,
and fire has consumed the wilderness pastures.

Joel 1:1-20 NLT

2.

19th strategy.
Prophesy and/or Warnings

  • Stop and enter into God's presence by praying.
  • Ask God to open your heart to hear His words to you.
  • Read through the passage.
  • The prophecy and/or warning can be very sad and possibly frightening.
  • Ask God to reveal to you what He would have you learn from the prophecy/warning.
  • Remember that some of the prophecies have already come true, and some have not.
  • Remember that God is with you as you read these and that He is good.
  • Pray through these hardship verses.
  • Is there some sort of wisdom to take away from these warnings?
  • Pray before you leave a page that is disturbing to your heart.
  • Ask God to bring you peace about the scripture.
  • Remember to thank Him for meeting you in your readings.
  • Ask Him to surprise you with a deeper if not a full understanding of these verses in the future.

3.
Abba,
You are God, we are not.
You have control over all.
We do not.
You are good.
We are only righteous through your Son.
Give us what you want us to know over the verses and passages that are confusing to us.
Help us see you and your wisdom in these passages.
In your name we pray,
Jehoshua,
Amen

4.

Please leave your last and first initial.

We are thankful for your presence here today.
I would appreciate it if each of you would take some time to celebrate.

Several of you have been here for several months.
If you have been here for over 200 days, please consider celebrating in some way.
AND, if you don't mind sharing that celebration in the comments that would be awesome.

What did you do, pray for, experience as you realized you have been here for over 200 days?

Please share with us.

I am praying for you today!
Be blessed.

Remember I am praying for you - DAILY!
And I will be back here tomorrow,
I hope I will see you here too.

212. Christ is Supreme

Christ is Supreme

1.

Today's Passage: Colossians 1:15-23

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.

15. Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.
He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,
16. for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth.
He made the things we can see and the things we can't see ⏤such as thrones,
kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created
through him and for him.
17. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
18. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning,
supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything.
19. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ,
20. and through him God reconciled everything to himself.
He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means
of Christ's blood on the cross.

21. This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies,
separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions.
22. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his
physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence,
and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

23. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it.
Don't drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News.
The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul,
have been appointed as God's servant to proclaim it.
Colossians 1:15-23 NLT

2.

8th strategy.
Choose three important verses that speak to you today.

  • Begin by getting your heart ready to receive the words that God has laid down for us on this page. Ask Him to give you what you need to hear. Ask Him to give you the mind of Christ to be able to remember this strategy and continue it throughout the day.
  • Read the passage completely.
  • After reading the first time go back and chose the three most important verses that speak to you today.
  • Ask God to bring those verses back to you through out the day.
  • Find out if by the end of the day only one verse has been thought about more than the others.
  • Thank God for that verse.
  • This is a good strategy to use for long passages.
  • Be sure to stop and thank God for being here with you today.

3.

Thank You Dearest LORD,
These verses touch each of us in different ways.
We have read them, heard them, believed them.
Place these verses into the very depth of our souls and
allow us to walk in thankful gratitude as we move through our days.
Thank you LORD,
You are here and You have saved.
In your name we pray,
Yehoshua,
Amen.

4.

Please leave your first and last initials. We are here reading together.
Leave a comment if these words bring depth to your day.

I hope that God is moving deeply into your days and
these readings are blessing your days.
God sees. He is the great El Roi.

Blessings on your day.

Remember I am praying for you - DAILY!
And I will be back here tomorrow,
I hope I will see you here too.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

1.

Today's Passage: Colossians 1:1-14

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting us, LORD.
We welcome you into this place.

1. This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus,
and from our brother Timothy.
2. We are writing to God's holy people in the city of Colosse, who are faithful
brothers and sisters in Christ.

May God our Father give you grace and peace.

3. We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
4. For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God's people,
5. which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven.
You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News.

6. This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world.
It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives
from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God's wonderful grace.

7. You learned about the Good News from Epaphras, our beloved co-worker.
He is Christ's faithful servant, and he is helping us on your behalf.
8. He has told us about the love for others that the Holy Spirit has given you.

9. So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you.
We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you
spiritual wisdom and understanding.
10. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord,
and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while,
you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

11. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power
so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy,
12. always thanking the Father. He has enables you to share in the
inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.

13. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred
us into the Kingdom of his dear Son,
14. who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
Colossians 1:1-14 NLT

2.

18th strategy.
Praising and Thanking God.

  • Stop and enter into God's presence by praying.
  • Ask God to open your heart to hear His words to you.
  • Read through the passage.
  • Re-read the passage looking for acts of praise and/or thankfulness.
  • Is your heart drawn to a particular verse.
  • Re-read that verse at least 4 times.
  • Ask God to allow you to reveal to you how to be filled with that kind of experience of praise and/or that gratitude.
  • As you leave the page ask God to remind you of this moment throughout your day.
  • Remember to thank God for His revelation to your heart.

3.

Abba,

Praise You for all You are.
You want us to be with You. You don't need us, You desire to be with us.
How surprising it is that a God who is All, who is the Greatest, desires our hearts to be His.
Please allow us to yield to You.
To surrender our lives moment by moment in praise and gratitude.
Give us Your peace that passes all understanding in this world of conflict.
In your name, Jehoshua, we pray.
Amen.
