281. The Testimony of John the Baptist 1. Today's Passage: John 21:1-28 Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend. Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here. You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages. Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the New Living Testament (NLT). Thank You for meeting us, LORD. We welcome you into this place. 1. In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2. He existed in the beginning with God. 3. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. 6. God sent a man, John the Baptist, 7. to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. 8. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. 9. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10. He came into the very world he created, but the world didn't recognize him. 11. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13. They are reborn ⏤ not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. 14. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father's one and only Son. 15. John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, "This is the one I was talking about when I said, 'Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.'" 16. From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another 17. For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. 18. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father's heart. He has revealed God to us. 19. This was John's testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Temple assistants from Jerusalem to ask John, "Who are you?" 20. He came right out and said, "I am not the Messiah" 21. "Well then who are you?" they asked. "Are you Elijah?" "No," he replied. "Are you the Prophet we are expecting?" "No." 22. "Then who are you? We need an answer for those who sent us. What do you have to say about yourself? 23. John replied in the words of the prophet Isaiah: "I am the voice shouting in the wilderness, 'Clear the way for the LORD'S coming!'" 24. Then the Pharisees who had been sent 25. asked him, "If you aren't the Messiah or Elijah or the Prophet, what right do you have to baptize?" 26. John told them, "I baptize with water, but right here in the crowd is someone you do not recognize. 27. Though his ministry follows mine, I'm not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandal." 28. This encounter took place in Bethany, an area east of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing. John 1:1-18 NLT 2. 11th strategy. Reading... Simple Act of Meditation Simple acts of meditation are not difficult. If they were difficult God would not encourage every person to do them. They are sometimes uncomfortable. But they are always profitable. They bring us closer to the heart of God. We are to Hide His Words In Our Hearts.
3. Abba, Thank you for this opportunity to see you in Your Word. Allow us to hear and see Your hand this day. We pray for hearts that bring us closer to You. Thank you Jehoshua Amen 4. Thank you for leaving your initials and a period or comma in the comments. Feel free to leave a comment of how God spoke to you during your reading. Don't forget to check the box under your comment. This way if someone replies to your comment you will be contacted. Check out our new prayers page in our member log in pages. We love you. Thank you for growing with us in this community. Our goal is for others to know Him more intimately, to read his words daily, and to be daily aware of His leading throughout the moments by moments that make up our days. 249. Heaven is God's Throne 1. Today's Passage: Isaiah 66: 1-24 Get to know your bible. 1. This is what the LORD says: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place? 2. My hands have made both heave and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the LORD, have spoken! "I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word. 3. But those who choose their own ways ⏤ delighting in their detestable sins ⏤ will not have their offerings accepted. When such people sacrifice a bull, it is no more acceptable than a human sacrifice. When they sacrifice a lamb, it's as though they had sacrificed a dog! When they bring an offering of grain, they might as well offer the blood of a pig. When they burn frankincense, it's as if they had blessed an idol. 4. I will send them great trouble ⏤ all the things they feared. For when I called, they did not answer. When I spoke, they did not listen. They deliberately sinned before my very eyes and chose to do what they know I despise." 5. Hear this message from the LORD, all you who tremble at his words; "Your own people hate you and throw you out for being loyal to my name. 'Let the LORD be honored!' they scoff. 'Be joyful in him!' But they will be put to shame. 6. What is all the commotion in the city? What is that terrible noise from the Temple? It is the voice of the LORD taking vengeance against his enemies. 7. "Before the birth pains even begin, Jerusalem gives birth to a son. 8. Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment? But by the time Jerusalem's birth pains begin, her children will be born. 9. Would I ever bring this nation to the point of birth and then not deliver it?" asks the LORD. "No! I would never keep this nation from being born," says your God. 10. "Rejoice with Jerusalem! Be glad with her, all you who love her and all you who mourn for her. 11. Drink deeply of her glory even as an infant drinks at its mother's comforting breasts." 12. This is what the LORD says: "I will give Jerusalem a river of peace and prosperity. The wealth of the nations will flow to her. Her children will be nursed at her breasts, carried in her arms and held on her lap. 13. I will comfort you there in Jerusalem as a mother comforts her child." 14. When you see these things, your heart will rejoice. You will flourish like the grass! Everyone will see the LORD's hand of blessing on his servants ⏤ and his anger against his enemies. 15. See, the LORD is coming with fire, and his swift chariots roar like a whirlwind. He will bring punishment with fury of his anger and the flaming fire of his hot rebuke. 16. The LORD will punish the world by fire and by his sword. He will judge the earth, and many will be killed by him. 17. "Those who 'consecrate' and 'purify' themselves in a sacred garden with its idol in the center ⏤ feasting on pork and rats and other detestable meats ⏤ will come to a terrible end," Says the LORD. 18. "I can see what they are doing, and I know what they are thinking. So I will gather all nations and peoples together, and they will see my glory. 19. I will perform a sign among them. And I will send those who survive to be messengers to the nations ⏤ to Tarshish, to the Libyans and Lydians (who are famous as archers), to Tubal and Greece, and to all the lands beyond the sea that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. There they will declare my glory to the nations, 20. They will bring the remnant of your people back from every nation. They will bring them to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the LORD. They will ride on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels," says the LORD. 21. "And I will appoint some of them to be my priests and Levites. I, the LORD have spoken! 22. "As surely as my new heavens and earth will remain so will you always be my people, with a name that will never disappear," says the LORD. 23. "All humanity will come to worship me from week to week and from month to month.. 24. And as they go out, they will see the dead bodies of those who have rebelled against me. For the worms that devour them will never die, and the fire that burns them will never go out. All who pass by will view them with utter horror." Isaiah 66:1-24 NLT 2. 21st strategy. (And, But, So) the LORD says/said:...

Today's Passage: Romans 2:17-29 Get to know your bible. 17. You who call yourselves Jews are relying on God's law, and you boast about your special relationship with him. 18. You know what he wants; you know what is right because you have been taught his law. 19. You are convinced that you are a guide for the blind and a light for people who are lost in darkness. 20. You think you can instruct the ignorant and teach children the ways of God. For you are certain that God's law give you complete knowledge and truth. 21. Well then, if you teach others, why don't you teach yourself? You tell others not to steal, but do you steal? 22. You say it is wrong to commit adultery, but do you commit adultery? You condemn idolatry, but do you use items stolen from pagan temples? 23 You are so proud of knowing the law, but you dishonor God by breaking it. 24. No wonder the Scriptures say. "The Gentiles blaspheme the name of God because of you." 25. The Jewish ceremony of circumcision has value only if you obey God's law. But if you don't obey God's law, you are no better off than an uncircumcised Gentile. 26. And if the Gentiles obey God's law, won't God declare them to be his own people? 27. In fact, uncircumcised Gentiles who keep God's law will condemn you Jews who are circumcised and possess God's law but don't obey it. 28. For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision. 29. No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by God's Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people. Romans 2:17-29 NLT 2. 14th strategy. Instructions Given

Today's Passage: Romans 2:1-16 Get to know your bible. 1. You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. 2. And we know that God, in his justice, will punish anyone who does such things. 3. Since you judge others for doing these things, why do you think you can avoid God's judgment when do the same things? 4. Don't you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can't you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? 5. But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. 6. He will judge everyone according to what they have done. 7. He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. 8. But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness. 9. There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil ⏤for the Jew first and also for the Gentile. 10. But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good ⏤for the Jew first and also for the Gentiles. 11. For God does not show favoritism. 12. When the Gentiles sin, they will be destroyed, even though they never had God's written law. And the Jews, who do have God's law, will be judged by that law when they fail to obey it. 13. For merely listening to the law doesn't make us right with God. It is obeying the law that makes us right in this sight. 14. Even Gentiles, who do not have God's written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. 15. They demonstrate that God's law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right. 16. And this is the message I proclaim ⏤that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone's secret life. Romans 2:1-16 NLT 2. 14th strategy. Instructions Given

Today's Passage: Isaiah 63: 1-19 Get to know your bible. 1. Who is this who comes from Edom, from the city of Bozrah with his clothing stained red? Who is this in royal robes, marching in his great strength? It is I, the LORD, announcing your salvation! It is I, the LORD, who has the power to save!" 2. Why are your clothes so red, as if you have been treading out grapes? 3. "I have been treading the wine press alone; no one was there to help me. In my anger I have trampled my enemies as if they were grapes. In my fury I have trampled my foes. Their blood has stained my clothes. 4. For the time has come for me to avenge my people, to ransom them from their oppressors. 5. I was amazed to see that no one intervened to help the oppressed. So I myself stepped in to save them with my strong arm, and my wrath sustained me. 6. I crushed the nations in my anger and made them stagger and fall to the ground, spilling their blood upon the earth." 7. I will tell of the LORD's unfailing love. I will praise the LORD for all he has done. I will rejoice in his great goodness to Israel, which he has granted according to his mercy and love. 8. He said, "They are my very own people. Surely they will not betray me again." And he became their Savior. 9. In all their suffering he also suffered and he personally rescued them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them through all the years. 10. But they rebelled against him and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he became their enemy and fought against them. 11. Then they remembered those days of old when Moses led his people out of Egypt. They cried out, "Where is the one who brought Israel through the sea, with Moses as their shepherd? Where is the one who sent his Holy Spirit to be among his people? 12. Where is the one whose power was displayed when Moses lifted up his hand ⏤ the one who divided the sea before them, making himself famous forever? 13. Where is the one who led them through the bottom of the sea? They were like fine stallions racing through the desert, never stumbling. 14. As with cattle going down into a peaceful valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. You led your people, LORD, and gained a magnificent reputation." 15. LORD, look down from heaven; look from your holy glorious home, and see us. Where is the passion and the light you used to show on our behalf? Where are your mercy and compassion now? 16. Surely you are still our Father! Even if Abraham and Jacob would disown us, LORD, you would still be our Father. You are our Redeemer from ages past. 17. LORD, why have you allowed us to turn from your path? Why have you given us stubborn hearts so we no longer fear you? Return and help us, for we are your servants, the tribes that are your special possession. 18. How briefly your holy people possessed your holy place, and now our enemies have destroyed it. 19. Sometimes it seems as though we never belonged to you, as though we had never been known as your people. Isaiah 63:1-19 NLT 2. 20th strategy. And What Do I Do With That?
3. Abba, As we come to You with this passage we know that we are Yours. Thank You for holding us fast. Thank You for keeping Your promises. We praise You and You alone. In Your name, Jehoshua, we come to You. Amen 4. Thank you for leaving your initials. And leave a comment with a comma or something - or, if God gives you something to share, share it! "I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession." 19. He said this when you were few in number, a tiny group of strangers in Canaan. 20. They wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. 21. Yet he did not let anyone oppress them. He warned kings on their behalf: 22. "Do not touch my chosen people, and do not hurt my prophets. 23. Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. 24. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Jesus Goes to Galilee 1. Today's Passage: John 4:1-38 Get to know your bible. 1. Jesus knew the Pharisees had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than John 2. (though Jesus himself didn't baptize them ⏤his disciples did. 3. So he left Judea and returned to Galilee. 4. He had to go through Samaria on the way. 5. Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6. Jacob's well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. 7. Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, "Please give me a drink." 8. He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food. 9. The Woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, "You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?" 10. Jesus replied, "If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water." 11. "But sir, you don't have a rope or a bucket," she said, "and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? 12. And besides, do you think you're greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?" 13. Jesus replied, "Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life." 15. "Please, sir," the woman said, "give me this water! Then I'll never be thirsty again, and I won't have to come here to get water.' 16. "Go and get your husband," Jesus told her. 17. "I don't have a husband," the woman replied. Jesus said, "You're right! You don't have a husband ⏤ 18. for you have had five husbands, and you aren't even married to the man you're living with now. You certainly spoke the truth! 19. "Sir," the woman said, "you must be a prophet. 20. So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?" 21. Jesus replied, "Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. 22. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, wile we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. 23. But the time is coming ⏤ indeed it's here now ⏤when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. 24. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." 25. The woman said, "I know the Messiah is coming ⏤ the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us. 26. Then Jesus told her, I AM the Messiah!" 27. Just then his disciples came back. They were shocked to find him talking to a woman, but none of them had the nerve to ask, "What do you want with her?" or "Why are you talking to her?" 28. The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everything. 29. "Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?" 30. So the people came streaming from the village to see him. 31. Meanwhile, the disciples were urging Jesus, "Rabbi, eat something." 32. But Jesus replied, "I have a kind of food you know nothing about." 33. "Did someone bring him food while we were gone?" the disciples asked each other. 34. Then Jesus explained: "My nourishment comes from doing the will of God who sent me, and from finishing his work. 35. You know the saying, 'Four months between planting and harvest.' But I say wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. 36. The harvesters are paid good wages and the fruit of the harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike! 37. You know the saying, 'One plants and another harvests.' And it's true. 38. I sent you to harvest when you didn't plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest." 2. Simply ask God to share with you what He desires for you to know. Don't forget to pray before you begin. Don't forget to thank Him for His answers. 3. Thank you LORD Thank you for making yourself available to us all. Thank you for protecting the harvest. Thank you for allowing us to participate. Help us see You as the God who cares for us. Help us see You as the God who cares for others. Change our hearts to match yours. In Your name we pray, Jesus Amen. 4.

There were twelve teams of oxen in the field, and Elisha was plowing with the twelfth team. Elijah went over to him and threw his cloak across his shoulders and then walked away. 20. Elisha left the oxen standing there, ran after Elijah, and said to him, "First let me go and kiss my father and mother good-bye, and then I will go with you!" Elijah replied, "Go on back, but think about what I have done to you." 21. So Elisha returned to his oxen and slaughtered them. He used the wood from the plow to build a fire to roast their flesh. He passed around the meat to the townspeople, and they all ate. Then he went with Elijah as his assistant. 1 Kings 19:19-21 NLT 2.

But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed everyone of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too." 11. "Go out and stand before me on the mountain," the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 13. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" 14. He replied again, "I have zealously served the LORD God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too." 15. Then the LORD told him, "Go back the same way you came, and travel to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive there, anoint Hazael to be king of Aram. 16. Then anoint Jehu son of Nimshi to be king of Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from the town of Abel-meholah to replace you as my prophet. 17. Anyone who escapes from Hazael will be killed by Jehu, and those who escape Jehu will be killed by Elisha! 18. Yet, I will preserve 7,000 others in Israel who have never bowed down to Baal or kissed him!" I Kings 19:10-18 NLT 2. 11th strategy. Reading... Simple Act of Meditation Simple acts of meditation are not difficult. If they were difficult God would not encourage every person to do them. They are sometimes uncomfortable. But they are always profitable. They bring us closer to the heart of God. We are to Hide His Words In Our Hearts.

Versions even in foreign languages. Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the New Living Testament (NLT). Thank You for meeting us, LORD. We welcome you into this place. When Ahab got home, he told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal. 2. So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: "May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them." 3. Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there. 4. Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, LORD," he said. "Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died." 5. Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. But as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him, "Get up and eat!" 6. He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again. 7. Then the angel of the LORD came again and touched him and said, "Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you." 8. So he got up and ate and drank and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai, the mountain of God. 9. There he came to a cave, where he spent the night. 1 Kings 19: 1-9 NLT 2. 2. 7th strategy. Repetitive Reading
