Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

2.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

3.

12th strategy.
History - So, now I know where it is.

  • Begin by asking God to join you in building into your heart what He would want you to build.
  • Read the passage completely
  • Read the passage again. With the second reading pause after each phrase/sentence and think about the phrase/sentence. Take the phrase/sentence in slowly.
  • You might want to reread the phrase/sentence until the meaning, or importance of the phrase/sentence really sinks in.
  • After reading each phrase/sentence at least once, sometimes more. Go back and reread the entire passage.
  • Do you find that the passage builds phrase/sentence upon phrase/sentence in importance? Why? or Why not?
  • What phrase/sentence do you find most important in the passage?
  • Thank God for this phrase/sentence and commit it to memory today.
  • Don't forget to thank God for being here today with you.

14. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Pharaoh's heart is stubborn, and he still refuses to let the people go.
15. So go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes down to the river. Stand on the bank of the Nile and meet him there. Be sure to take along the staff that turned into a snake.
16. Then announce to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you, "Let my people go, so they can worship me in the wilderness." Until now, you have refused to listen to him.
17. So this is what the LORD says: "I will show you that I am the LORD." Look! I will strike the water of the Nile with this staff in my hand, and the river will turn to blood.
18 The fish in it will die, and the river will stink The Egyptians will not be able to drink any water from the Nile.'"

19. Then the LORD said to Moses: "Tell Aaron, 'Take your staff and raise your hand over the waters of Egypt — all its rivers, canals, ponds and all the reservoirs. Turn all the water to blood. Everywhere in Egypt the water will turn to blood, even the water stored in wooden bowls and stone pots.'"

20. So Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them. As Pharaoh and all of his officials watched, Aaron raised his staff and struck the water of the Nile. Suddenly, the whole river turned to blood!
21. The fish in the river died, and the water became so foul that the Egyptians couldn't drink it. There was blood everywhere throughout the land of Egypt.
22. But again the magicians of Egypt used their magic, and they, too, turned water into blood. So Pharaoh's heart remained hard. He refused to listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had predicted.
23. Pharaoh returned to his palace and put the whole thing out of his mind.
24. Then all the Egyptians dug along the riverbank to find drinking water, for they couldn't drink the water from the Nile.

25. Seven days passed from the time the LORD struck the Nile.
Exodus 7:14-25 NLT

2.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

3.

15th strategy.
Imagine

  • Prepare your heart - that means ask Him to open you to be able to listen well.
  • Ask Jesus to bring you into the very presence of God Himself as you read instructions
  • Imagine the characters in this passage.
  • Are they facing a large enemy? or a challenge?
  • Have they followed God? or have they fled from His guidance?
  • Are they trusting God?
  • Are they experiencing pain, or loss?
  • Imagine them as friends.
  • What would you do if you were there beside them?
  • Would you be willing to encourage them?
  • What would you do if you were experiencing their story?
  • Who would you turn to for guidance? God? A mentor? Satan?
  • Ask God to show you how to lean on Him in times of attack, or challenge.
  • Thank God for His presence with you right now.

1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Pay close attention to this. I will make you seem like God to Pharaoh, and your brother, Aaron, will be your prophet.
2. Tell Aaron everything I command you, and Aaron must command Pharaoh to let the people of Israel leave his country.
3. But I will make Pharaoh's heart stubborn so I can multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.
4. Even then Pharaoh will refuse to listen to you. So I will bring down my fist on Egypt. Then I will rescue my forces — my people, the Israelites — from the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment.
5. When I raise my powerful hand and bring out the Israelites, the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD."

6. So Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded them.
7. Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three when they made their demands ot Pharoah.
8. Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
9. "Pharaoh will demand, 'Show me a miracle.' When he does this, say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and throw it down in front of Pharaoh, and it will become a serpent.'"

10. So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did what the LORD had commanded them, Aaron threw down his staff  before Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent!
11. Then Pharaoh called in his own wise men and sorcerers, and these Egyptian magicians did the same thing with their magic.
12. They threw down their staffs, which also became serpents! But then Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.
13. Pharaoh's heart, however, remained hard. He still refused to listen, just as the LORD had predicted.
Exodus 7:1-13 NLT

3.

2nd strategy
Meditation in
WORSHIP

God is able to speak to us through those words that we read and reread, as we think about what we have read and ponder those words infiltrate our minds and change us. They give us a better understanding of what God is saying in His word. Through that better understanding we begin to think differently, and our attitudes and lives change. Even our actions toward ourselves, others and the world change to be more Christlike.

And isn't that what Christians desire? To be Christ like. To be Christ followers. To know God.

With these precepts or tenets in place, let us begin with WORSHIP.

  • Begin with asking God to open your heart to what He has for you to hear today.
  • Read a passage of the Scripture
  • Is a miracle in the passage? Is a relationship deepened in some way? Has God stepped in and shown His power,
  • Has he shown His discipline or even His protection or His end goal?
  • Has Jesus, lived life, shown love, or taught?
  • Whatever the passage holds that brings you an awareness of who He is, praise Him for that revelation.
  • Give Him glory and honor and praise. Thank Him for what He has given.
  • Think on these things. Ponder them. Reread the passage. Write about what you read. Pray! This is Worship!
  • Thank God for His presence this moment.

15. On the day the Tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered it. But from evening until morning the cloud over the Tabernacle looked like a pillar of fire.
16. This was the regular pattern — at night the cloud that covered the Tabernacle had the appearance of fire.
17. Whenever the cloud lifted from over the sacred tent, the people of Israel would break camp and follow it. And wherever the cloud settled, the people of Israel would set up camp.
18. In this way, they traveled and camped at the LORD'S command wherever he told them to go. Then they remained in their camp as long as the cloud stayed over the Tabernacle.
19. If the cloud remained over the Tabernacle for a long time, the Israelites stayed and performed their duty to the LORD
20. Sometimes the cloud would stay over the Tabernacle for only a few days, so the people would stay for only a few days, as the LORD commanded. Then at the LORD'S command they would break camp and move on.
21. Sometimes the cloud stayed only overnight and lifted the next morning. But day or night, when the cloud lifted, the people broke camp and moved on.
22. Whether the cloud stayed above the Tabernacle for two days, a month, or a year, the people of Israel stayed in camp and did not move on. But as soon as it lifted, they broke camp and moved on.
23. So they camped or traveled at the LORD'S command, and they did whatever the LORD told them through Moses.
Numbers 9:15-23 NLT

3.

14th strategy.
Instructions Given
  • Prepare your heart
  • Ask Jesus to bring you into the very presence of God Himself as you read instructions
  • Imagine God or Jesus handing these instructions.
  • Who are the instructions given to? a group, a nation, a particular person?
  • Why is He giving these instructions?
  • Is there a consequence from these instructions either good or bad?
  • Contemplate these instructions.
  • List them either mentally or write them down.
  • What do they mean? What do they represent?
  • Are these instructions wise for anyone anytime to follow?
  • Would they help your own life, if applied?
  • Pray over what God has given.
  • Thank Him for His guidance either in the past, or presently.

1. A year after Israel's departure from Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai. In the first month of that year he said,
2. "Tell the Israelites to celebrate the Passover at the prescribed time,
3. at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. Be sure to follow all my decrees and regulations concerning this celebration."
4. So Moses told the people to celebrate the Passover
5. in the wilderness of Sinai as twilight fell on the fourteenth day of the month. And they celebrated the festival there, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
6. But some of the men had been ceremonially defiled by touching a dead body, so they could not celebrate the Passover that day. They came to Moses and Aaron that day
7. and said, "We have become ceremonially unclean by touching a dead body. But why should we be prevented from presenting the LORD'S offering at the proper time with the rest of the Israelites?"

8. Moses answered, "Wait here until I have received instructions for you from the LORD."

9. This was the LORD'S reply to Moses.
10. "Give the following instructions to the people of israel: If any of the people now or in future generations are ceremonially unclean at Passover time because of touching a dead body, or if they are on a journey and cannot be present at the ceremony, they may still celebrate the LORD'S Passover.
11. They must offer the Passover sacrifice one month later, at twilight on the fourteenth day of the second month. They must eat the Passover lamb at that time with bitter salad greens and bread made without yeast.
12. They must not leave any of the lamb until the next morning, and they must not break any of its bones. They must follow all the normal regulations concerning the passover.

13. "But those who neglect to celebrate the Passover at the regular time, even though they are ceremonially clean and not away on a trip, will be cut off from the community of Israel. If they fail to present the LORD'S offering at the proper time, they will suffer the consequences of their guilt.
14. And if foreigners living among you want to celebrate the Passover to the LORD, they must follow these same decrees and regulations. The same laws apply both to native-born Israelites and to the foreigners living among you.
Numbers 9:1-14 NLT

16. "Of all the people of Israel, the Levites are reserved for me. I have claimed them for myself in place of all the firstborn sons of the Israelites; I have taken the Levites as their substitutes.
17. For all the firstborn males among the people of Israel are mine, both of people and of animals. I set them apart for myself on the day I struck down all the firstborn sons of the Egyptians.
18. Yes, I have claimed the Levites in place of all the firstborn sons of Israel.
19. And of all the Israelites, I have assigned the Levites to Aaron and his sons. They will serve in the Tabernacle on behalf of the Israelites and make sacrifices to purify the people so no plague will stike them when they approach the sanctuary."

20. So Moses, Aaron, and the whole community of Israel dedicated the Levites, carefully following all the LORD'S instructions to Moses.
21. The Levites purified themselves from sin and washed their clothes, and Aaron lifted them up and presented them to the LORD as a special offering. He then offered a sacrifice to purify them and make them right with the LORD.
22. After that the Levites went into the Tabernacle to perform their duties, assisting Aaron and his sons. So they carried out all the commands that the LORD gave Moses concerning the Levites.

23. The LORD also instructed Moses,
24. "This is the rules the Levites must follow: They must begin serving in the Tabernacle at the age of twenty-five,
25. and they must retire at the age of fifty.
26. After retirement they may assist their fellow Levites by serving as guards at the Tabernacle, but they may not officiate in the service. This is how you must assign duties to the Levites."

5. Then the LORD said to Moses,
6. "Now set the Levites apart from the rest of the people of Israel and make them ceremonially clean.
7. Do this by sprinkling them with the water of purification, and have them shave their entire body and wash them shave their entire body and wash their clothing. Then they will be ceremonially clean.
8. Have them bring a young bull and a grain offering of choice flour moistened with olive oil, along with a second young bull for a sin offering.
9. Then assemble the whole community of Israel, and present the Levites at the entrance of the Tabernacle.
10. When you present the Levites before the LORD, the people of Israel must lay their hands on them.
11. Raising his hands, Aaron must then present the Levites to the LORD as a special offering from the people of Israel, thus dedicating them to the LORD'S service.
`12. "Next the Levites will lay their hands on the heads of the young bulls. Present one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to the LORD, to purify the Levites and make them right with the LORD.
13. Then have the Levites stand in front of Aaron and his sons, and raise you hands and present them as a special offering to the LORD.
14. In this way, you will set the Levites apart from the rest of the people of Israel, and the Levites will belong to me.
15. After this, they may go into the Tabernacle to do their work, because you purified them and presented them as a special offering.

1st strategy
From the Ancients - Lectio Divina
  • Ask God to open your heart and mind to what is written in the passage.
  • Read the passage
  • Re-read the passage looking for 3 words or phrases that really resonate in your heart.
  • Write those words down.
  • Re-read the passage. Of the 3 words which 1 resonates most in your heart?
    • Ask yourself what does this word mean in my life?
    • Where do I need change/growth/revelation?
  • Write this word down. Or, remember this word throughout your day.
  • Ask God to show you meaning from the passage.
  • We read, reflect, and communicate. Share with the community.
  • Don't forget to thank God for being with you during this endeavor to find intimacy with Him.

THIS STRATEGY IS AN AGE OLD STRATEGY - No one has a copyright on this - use it freely! It is wonderful!
All other strategies, please contact the author at rrandbc@readthebiblewithrobyncox.com

1. O LORD, hear my plea for justice. Listen to my cry for help. Pay attention to my prayer, for it comes from honest lips.
2. Declare me innocent, for you see those who do right.

3. You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong. I am determined not to sin in what I say.
4. I have followed your commands, which keep me from following cruel and evil people.
5. My steps have stayed on your path; I have not wavered from following you.

6. I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.
7. Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies.
8. Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.
9. Protect me from wicked people who attack me, from murderous enemies who surround me.
10. They are without pity. LIsten to their boasting!
11. They track me down and surround me, watching for the chance to throw me to the ground.
12. They are like hungry lions, eager to tear me apart — Like young lions hiding in ambush.

13. Arise, O LORD! Stand against them, and bring them to their knees! Rescue me from the wicked with your sword!
14. By the power of your hand, O LORD, destroy those who look to this world for their reward. But satisfy the hunger of your treasured ones. May their children have plenty, leaving an inheritance for their descendants.
15. Because I am righteous, I will see you. When I awake, I will see you face to face and be satisfied.
Psalm 17:1-15 NLT

3.

6th strategy.
Cause and Effect

  • Begin by inviting God to show you what is the cause and effect hidden in these verses. Ask Him to show you nuggets of wisdom.
  • Read the passage completely.
  • Divide a piece of paper into two columns.
  • Title the first column Cause and the second column Effect
  • Reread the passage. This time ask if there are any instructions that are given that have a direct end result.
  • Write down the causes (in Cause column)and the effects (in the Effects column).
  • Do you find a pattern?
  • What are your thoughts?
  • Now as you wrap all these thoughts up in your mind. Stop and thank God for being with you this very day.

1. What sorrow awaits Nineveh, the city of murder and lies! She is crammed with wealth and is never without victims.
2. Hear the crack of ships, the rumble of wheels! Horses' hooves pound, and chariots clatter wildly.
3. See the flashing swords and glittering spears as the charioteers charge past! There are countless casualties, heaps of bodies — so many bodies that people stumble over them.
All this because Nineveh, the beautiful and faithless city, mistress of deadly charms, enticed the nations with her beauty. She taught them all her magic, enchanting people everywhere.

5. "I am your enemy!" says the LORD Of Heaven's Armies. "And now I will lift your skirts and show all the earth your nakedness and shame.
6. I will cover you with filth and show the world how vile you really are.
7. All who see you will shrink back and say,  ' Nineveh lies in ruins. Where are the mourners?' Does anyone regret your destruction?"

8. Are you any better than the city of Thebes, situated on the Nile River, surrounded by water? She was protected by the river on all sides, walled in by water.
9. Ethiopia and the land of Egypt gave unlimited assistance. The nations of Put and Libya were among her allies.
10. Yet Thebes fell, and her people were led away as captives.
Her babies were dashed to death against the stones of the streets. Soldiers threw dice to get Egyptian officers as servants. All their leaders were bound in chains.
Nahum 3:1-10 NLT

. The LORD'S Judgment against Ninevah

Today's Passage: Nahum 3:11-19

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

5th strategy.
A simple strategy: Building Blocks

11. And you, Nineveh, will also stagger like a drunkard. You will hide for fear of the attacking enemy.
12. All your fortresses will fall. They will be devoured like the ripe figs that fall into the mouths of those who shake the trees,
13. Your troops will be as weak and helpless as women. The gates of your land will be opened wide to the enemy and set on fire and burned.
14. Get ready for the siege! Store up water! Strengthen the defenses! Go into the pits to trample clay, and pack it into molds, making bricks to repair the walls.
15. But the fire will devour you; the sword will cut you down. The enemy will consume you like locusts, devouring everything they see. There will be no escape, even if you multiply like swarming locusts.
16. Your merchants have multiplied until they outnumber the stars. But like a swarm of locusts, they strip the land and fly away.
17. Your guards and officials are also like swarming locusts that crowd together in the hedges on a cold day. But like locusts that fly away when the sun comes up, all of them will fly away and disappear.
18. Your shepherds are asleep, O Assyrian king; your princes lie dead in the dust. Your people are scattered across the mountains with no one to gather them together.
19. There is no healing for your wound; your injury is fatal.
All who hear of your destruction will clap their hands for joy. Where can anyone be found who has not suffered from your continual cruelty?
Nahum 3:11-19
