The Righteous and the Wicked Contrasted
1.

Today's Passage: Psalm 1

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

2.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

1. Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
2. But they delight in the law of the LORD,
meditating on it day and night
3. They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.

4. But not the wicked!
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
5. They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.
6. For the LORD watches over the path of the godly,
but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.
Psalm 1:1-6 NLT

 3.
This is the first Psalm of the Book of Psalms

I have found memorizing this tiny 6 verse chapter to be one of the most powerfully calming memorizations I have ever done.
If you have not put this scripture down to memory, I encourage you to do it today.
Allow this particular Psalm to lead you into the New Year.

Thank God for allowing you to hide this passage in your heart.
It is a wise one to know.

It is also a great one for the beginning of the year.
Once again, God blows me away. Remember, I do not have the actual dates down as I list these scriptures out with God in a quiet place with much prayer.
And yet, He places Christmas verses around Christmas time,
and now this verse the day before we begin the New Year.
Oh what a blessing to be led by the Most High God.
May I always yearn for His way.

~Robyn

There are several ways to memorize scripture. This one is the one that I tend to lean toward.
  • Write the first verse down on a piece of paper until you can say it without looking at it.
  • Simply put your hand over the page and try until you have it in your head.
  • If you don't get it, write it down again.
  • Remember you are doing this for your own well-being so taking as long as it takes. It is A-Okay if it takes a while.
  • Once you have memorized the first verse continue by writing the second verse down in the same way.
  • Always say the first verse out loud from memory and then write the second verse down.
  • Do this once again until you can say both verses without looking at them.
  • Add the third verse and so on until you have all six verses memorized.
You will be surprised how often this verse will be brought to mind when you are in a hard place and are confused about what to do. It is a pleasure and a gift to serve you all.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

Jesus Clears the Temple

13 It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover celebration, so Jesus went to Jerusalem.
14. In the Temple area he saw merchants selling cattle, sheep, and doves for sacrifices; he also saw dealers at tables exchanging foreign money.
15. Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the Temple. He drove out the sheep and cattle, scattered the money changers' coins over the floor, and turned over their tables.
16. Then, going over to the people who sold doves, he told them, "Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father's house into a marketplace!"

17. Then his disciples remember this prophecy from the Scriptures: "Passion for God's house will consume me."

18. But the Jewish leaders demanded, "What are you doing? If God gave you authority to do this, show us a miraculous sign to prove it."

19. "All right," Jesus replied. "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up"

20. "What!" they exclaimed. "It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple, and you can rebuild it in three days!"
21. But when Jesus said, "this Temple," he meant his own body.
22. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered he had said this, and they believed both the Scriptures and what Jesus had said.

Jesus and Nicodemus

23. Because of the miraculous signs Jesus did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many began to trust in him.
24. But Jesus didn't trust them, because he knew human nature.
25. No one needed to tell him what mankind is really like.
John 2:13-25 NLT

3.

1st strategy is taken from the ancients
Lectio Divina

  • Ask God to open your heart and mind to what is written in the passage.
  • Read the passage
  • Re-read the passage looking for 3 words or phrases that really resonate in your heart.
  • Write those words down.
  • Re-read the passage. Of the 3 words which 1 resonates most in your heart?
    • Ask yourself what does this word mean in my life?
    • Where do I need change/growth/revelation?
  • Write this word down. Or, remember this word throughout your day.
  • Ask God to show you meaning from the passage.
  • We read, reflect, and communicate. Share with the community.
  • Don't forget to thank God for being with you during this endeavor to find intimacy with Him.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.

Thank you for insight.

The Wedding at Cana

1. The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there,
1. and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration.
3. The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus' mother told him, "They have no more wine."

4. "Dear woman, that's not our problem," Jesus replied. "My time has not yet come."

5. But his mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

6. Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing.
Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons.
7. Jesus told the servants, "Fill the jars with water." When the jars had been filled,
8. he said, "Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies." So the servants followed his instructions.

9. When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over.
10. "A host always serves the best wine first," he said, "Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!"

11. This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

12 After the wedding he went to Capernaum for a few days with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples.
John 2: 1-12 NLT

3.

Remember, the Reading Strategies are a suggestion.
You might find another that fits your need or calls to your heart.
Follow that.
Would appreciate it if you would share how and why you switched
and what God shared with you from His Word.

19th strategy.
Asking Questions About the Passage and How the Passage Changes Me.

  • Ask God to join you in your thoughtful questioning.
  • A message from the LORD.
  • Who is sending the message and to whom?
  • Why?
  • When?
  • What will happen?
  • How will this effect the people involved?
  • How does this prophecy effect me?
  • What does this message prove about who God is?
  • Think about the protection of God for His people.
  • Think about the protection of God for you.
  • Pray. Don't forget to thank God for His revelations that might come later. But trust that they will come.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

The First Disciples

35. The following day John was standing with two of his disciples.
36. As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared. "Look! There is the Lamb of God"
37. When John's two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus.

38. Jesus looked around and saw them following. "What do you want?" he asked them.

They replied, "Rabbi" (which means "Teacher"), "where are you staying?"

39. "Come and see," he said. It was about four o'clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.

40. Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus.
41. Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means  "Christ").

42. Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said, "Your name is Simon, son of John⏤but you will be called Cephas" (which means "Peter").

43. The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Come, follow me."
44. Phillip was from Bethsaida, Andrew and Peter's hometown.

45. Philip went to look for Nathanael and told him, "We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth."

45. "Nazareth!" exclaimed Nathanael, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?"

"Come and see for yourself," Philip replied.

47. As they approached, Jesus said, "Now here is a genuine son of Israel ⏤a man of complete integrity."

48. "How do you know about me?" Nathanael asked.

Jesus replied, "I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you."

49. Then Nathanael exclaimed, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God ⏤the King of Israel!"

50. Jesus asked him, "Do you believe this just because I told you I had seen you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this."
51. Then he said. "I tell you the truth, you will all see heaven open and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of Man, the one who is the stairway between heaven and earth."
John 1: 35-51 NLT

3.

24th Strategy
Jesus Speaks

  • Read through the instructions below then read the passage.
  • Pray for God to open your heart to hear a new word from Him today.
  • Read the entire passage.
  • Re-read only the words that are written in red. These words signify words that were said by Jesus Christ, himself.
  • As you re-read the words spoken by Jesus imagine He is speaking to you.
  • In these passages Jesus renames people. Has He ever given you a new name?
  • When Jesus changes names, He is usually encouraging that person in a new direction.
  • Have you asked Him for new meaning for your name and your life.
  • Now re-read the passage again.
  • Ask God to show you what He wants you to see.
  • Don't forget to thank Him for being with you.
  • Don't forget to thank Him for answering.

Jesus, the Lamb of God

29. The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
30. He is the one I was talking about when I said, 'A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.'
31. I did not recognize him as the Messiah, but I have been baptizing with water so that he might be revealed to Israel."

32. Then John testified, "I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon him.
33. I didn't  know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, 'The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.'
34. I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God."
John 1:20-34 NLT

3.

8th strategy.
Choose three important verses that speak to you today.

  • Begin by getting your heart ready to receive the words that God has laid down for us on this page. Ask Him to give you what you need to hear. Ask Him to give you the mind of Christ to be able to remember this strategy and continue it throughout the day.
  • Read the passage completely.
  • After reading the first time go back and chose the three most important verses that speak to you today.
  • Ask God to bring those verses back to you through out the day.
  • Find out if by the end of the day only one verse has been thought about more than the others.
  • Thank God for that verse.
  • This is a good strategy to use for long passages.
  • Be sure to stop and thank God for being here with you today.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the

2.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

Prologue: Christ, the Eternal Word

1. In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2. He existed in the beginning with God.
3. God create everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.
4. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.
5. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

6. God sent a man, John the Baptist,
7. to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony.
8. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light.
9. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

10. He came into the  very world he created, but the world didn't recognize him.
11. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him.
12. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
13. They are reborn⏤not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

14. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father's one and only Son.

15. John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, "This is the one I was talking about when I said, 'Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.'"

16. From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.
17. For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.
18. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father's heart. He has revealed God to us.

The Testimony of John the Baptist

19. This was John's testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Temple assistants from Jerusalem to ask John, "Who are you?"
20. He came right out and said, "I am not the Messiah,"

21. "Well then, who are you?" they asked. "Are you Elijah!"

"No" he replied.

"Are you the Prophet we are expecting?"

"No."

22. Then who are you? We need an answer for those who sent us. What do you have to say about yourself?"
23. John replied in the words of the prophet Isaiah:
"I am a voice shouting in the wilderness, 'Clear the way for the LORD'S coming!' "

24. Then the Pharisees who had been sent
25. asked him, "If you aren't the Messiah or Elijah or the Prophet, what right do you have to baptize?"

26. John told them, "I baptize with water, but right here in the crowd is someone you do not recognize.
27. Though his ministry follows mine, I'm not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandal."

28. This encounter took place in Bethany, an area east of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing.
John 1:1-28 NLT

3.

7th strategy.
Repetitive Reading

  • Begin by getting your heart ready to receive the words that God has laid down for us on this page. Ask Him to give you what you need to hear. Ask Him to give you the mind of Christ to be able to remember this strategy and continue it throughout the day.
  • Read the passage completely. Ask God to give you one verse that resonates in your heart today.
  • Write the verse down on a pad of paper, sticky note, or even on your phone in notes or your calendar.
  • Pray and ask God to give you a number of times to repeat this verse throughout the day. Write that number underneath the verse.
  • Or ask Him if it would be better for you to read and repeat the verse three times and then do that again later in the day. Asking how many times to have this little repetitive session and writing that down under the verse.
  • Every time you repeat the verse mark a tally under the verse.
  • Do this throughout the day. Try to reach your set goal or above it.
  • At the end of the day attempt to speak the verse without looking at it.
  • Before bed repeat the verse again either rereading it off of the paper, or quoting it from memory. Either is a glory to God.
  • And remember, God gleans great pleasure when you stop and thank Him for being with your throughout your day.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

John the Baptist prepares the Way

1. In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was,
2. "Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near."
3. The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said,
"He is a voice shouting in the wilderness,
'Prepare the way for the LORD'S coming!
Clear the road for him!'"

4. John's clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey.
5. People from Jerusalem and from all of Judea and all over the Jordan Valley went out to see and hear John.
6. And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River.

7. But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to watch him baptize, he denounced them. "You brood of snakes!" he exclaimed. "Who warned you to flee God's coming wrath?
8. Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.
9. Don't just say to each other, 'We're safe, for we are descendants of Abraham from these very stones.
10. Even now the ax of God's judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chipped down and thrown into the fire.

11. "I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am⏤so much greater that I'm not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
12. He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire"

The Baptism of Jesus

13. Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John.
14. But John tried to talk him out of it. "I am the one who needs to be baptized by you," he said, "so why are you coming to me?"

15. But Jesus said, "It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires." So John agreed to baptize him.

16. After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him.
17. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy."
Matthew 3:1-17 NLT

3.

3rd strategy for familiar passages.
Read Anew!
Read the passage from Last to First!

Sometimes we have read a passage of Scripture so many times we can't see it with new eyes.
How can we change the passage without changing the meaning?
What would we see if we take a passage and begin with the last verse and read the verses from Chapter 3.
For example: Chapter 3:17-1.
  • Begin with asking God to open your heart to allow you to see these verses afresh with new eyes and hear with new ears.
  • Now begin reading Chapter 3 beginning with verse 17, 16, 15, 14..., 2, 1.
  • Does the passage add more to what you considered the meaning?
  • Does reading in a different way give you a new insight into the passage?
  • Finalize with re-reading the passage in the way it was originally written.
  • Look back over the verses. Does any one verse stand out in your heart?
  • Pray over that verse. Place it in our heart, your journal, on a 3X5 card or sticky note. Tape it in your bible, on a mirror, or on your desk.
  • Be sure to thank God for being here with you today. He gets great pleasure from our gratitude.

2.
Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

Visitors from the East

1.. Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking.
2. "Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw a star as it rose, and we have come to worship him."

3. King Herod was deeply disturbed when he heard this, as was everyone in Jerusalem.
4. He called a meeting of the leading priests and teachers of religious law and asked, "Where is the Messiah supposed to be born?"

5. "In Bethlehem in Judea," they said, "for this is what the prophet wrote:
6, 'And you, O Bethlehem in the land of Judah, are not least among the ruling cities of Judah, for a ruler will come from you who will be the shepherd for my people Israel.' "

7. Then Herod called for a private meeting with the wise men, and he learned from them the time when the star first appeared.
8. Then he told them, "Go to Bethlehem and search carefully for the child. And when you find him, come back and tell me so that I can go and worship him, too!"

9. After this interview the wise men went their way.  And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was.
10. When they saw the star, they were filled with joy!
11. They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary , and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

12. When it was time to leave, they returned to their own country by another route, for God had warned them in a dream not to return to  Herod.

The Escape to Egypt

13. After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother," the angel said. "Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."

14. That night Joseph left for Egypt with the child and Mary, his mother,
15. and they stayed there until Herod's death. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: "I called my Son out of Egypt."

16. Herod was furious when he realized that the wise men had outwitted him. He sent soldiers to kill all the boys in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, based on the wise men's report of the star's first appearance.
17. Herod's brutal action fulfilled what God had spoken through the prophet Jeremiah:

18. "A cry was heard in Ramah ⏤weeping and great mourning. Rachel weeps for her children, refusing to be comforted, for they are dead."

The Return to Nazareth

19. When Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt.
20. "Get up!" the angel said. "Take the child and his mother back to the land of Israel, because those who were trying to kill the child are dead."

21. So Joseph got up and returned to the land of Israel with Jesus and his mother.
22. But when he learned that the new ruler of Judea was Herod's son Archelaus, he was afraid to go there. Then, after being warned in a dream, he left for the region of Galilee.
23. So the family went and lived in a town called Nazareth. This fulfilled what the prophets had said: "He will be called a Nazarene."

Matthew 2: 1-23 NLT

1.

Today's Passage: Matthew 1:1-25

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

2.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

The Ancestors of Jesus the Messiah

1. This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham:

2. Abraham was the father of Isaac. Isaac was the father of Jacob.
Jacob was the father of Judah and his brothers.
3. Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah (whose mother was Tamar).
Perez was the father of Hezron.
Hezron was the father of Ram.
4. Ram was the father of Amminadab.
Amminadab was the father of Nahshon.
Nahshon was the father of Salmon.
5. Salmon was the father of Boaz (whose mother was Rahab).
Boaz was the father of Obed (whose mother was Ruth).
Obed was the father of Jesse.
6. Jesse was the father of King David.
David was the father of Solomon (whose mother was Bathsheba, the widow of Uriah).
7. Solomon was the father of Rehoboam,
Rehoboam was the father of Abijah.
Abaijah was the father of Asa.
8. Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat.
Jehoshaphat was the father of Jehoram.
Jehoram was the father of Uzziah.
9. Uzziah was the father of Jotham.
Jotham was the father of Ahaz.
Ahaz was the father of Hezekiah.
10. Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh.
Manasseh was the father of Amon
Amon was the father of Josiah.
11. Josiah was the father of Jehoiachin and his brothers
(born at the time of the exile to Babylon).
12. After the Babylonian exile:
Jehoiachin was the father of Shealtiel.
Shealtiel was the father of Zerubbabel.
13. Zerubbabel was the father of Abiud.
Abiud was the father of Eliakim.
Eliakim was the father of Azor.
14. Azor was the father of Zadok.
Zadok was the father of Akim.
Akim was the father of Eliud.
15. Eliud was the father of Eleazar.
Eleazar was the father of Matthan.
Matthan was the father of Jacob.
16. Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary.
Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is called the Messiah.

17. All those listed above include fourteen generations from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the Babylonian exile, and fourteen from the Babylonian exile to the Messiah.

The Birth of Jesus the Messiah

18. This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit.
19. Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly.

20. As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. "Joseph, son of David," the angel said, "Joseph, son of David," the angel said, "do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.
21. And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

22. All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord's message through his prophet:

23. "Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means 'God is with us..'"

24. When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife.
25. But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus.

3.

12th strategy.
History - Oh wow, that is where it comes from.

Again, I would like to emphasize, simple acts of meditation are not so much difficult, as uncomfortable.
God wants you to know how His story happened.
How He created the earth, made his children, and how traditions became interwoven into his family.

  • Open your heart. Begin with confession.
  • Ask God to prompt you to hear Him and what He wants you to come away with.
  • Read the passage.
  • Does this passage answer questions or lay down foundations of traditions you have often wondered about?
  • Read the passage again.
  • Take a moment to highlight the verses that answer a question you have often wondered about.
  • Has a particular spiritual practice been born out these particular passages. If so, write the spiritual practice down, and then the scripture book and numbers corresponding to it.
  • You might consider writing this in the margin of your bible. or even in the inside cover for future reference.
  • End by asking God to reveal to you the reasons for His traditions. Is there a meaning that applies to you today?
  • Don't forget to thank God for being with you right where you are, right now.

The Crowds are Healed

1.

Today's Passage: Mark 1:29-45

Get to know your bible. It will become a good friend.

Or find the passage NASB version on Bible Gateway here.
You can search for other versions there as well. Versions even in foreign languages.

Or, for your convenience I have typed the verses below from the
New Living Testament (NLT).

2.

Thank You for meeting me, LORD.
I welcome you into this place.
Please prepare my heart Jehovah.
Thank you for insight.

Jesus Heals Many People

29. After Jesus left the synagogue with James and John, they went to Simon and Andrew's home.
30. Now Simon's mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. They told Jesus about her right away.
31. So he went to her bedside, took her by the hand, and helped her sit up. Then the fever left her, and she prepared a meal for them.

32. That evening after sunset, many sick and demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus.
33. The whole town gathered at the door to watch.
34. So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out demons. But because the demons knew who he was, he did not allow them to speak.

Jesus preaches in Galilee

35. Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.
36. Later Simon and the others went out to find him.
37. When they found him, they said, "Everyone is looking for you."

38. But Jesus replied, "We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came."
39. So  he traveled through the region of Galilee preaching in the synagogues and casting out demons.

Jesus Heals a Man with Leprosy

40. A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. "If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean," he said.

41. Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. "I am willing," he said. "Be healed!"
42. Instantly the leprosy disappeared and the man was healed.
43. Then Jesus sent him on his way with a stern warning:
44. "Don't tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed."

45. But the man went and spread the word, proclaiming to everyone what had happened. As a result, large crowds soon surrounded Jesus, and he couldn't publicly enter a town anywhere. He had to stay out in the secluded places, but people from everywhere kept coming to him.
Mark 1: 29-45 NLT

3.

2nd strategy
Meditation in
WORSHIP

  • Begin with asking God to open your heart to what He has for you to hear today.
  • Read a passage of the Scripture
  • Is a miracle in the passage? Is a relationship deepened in some way? Has God stepped in and shown His power,
  • Has he shown His discipline or even His protection or His end goal?
  • Has Jesus, lived life, shown love, or taught?
  • Whatever the passage holds that brings you an awareness of who He is, praise Him for that revelation.
  • Give Him glory and honor and praise. Thank Him for what He has given.
  • Think on these things. Ponder them. Reread the passage. Write about what you read. Pray! This is Worship!
  • Thank God for His presence this moment.
